Get Books, e-Books and DVDs from the Library

The Library Catalog will tell you the location of a book, its call number and whether it's available in the STACKS, checked out, on reserve, or available online as an e-book. There are over 90,000 print books, 6,000 e-books, and 250 DVD's to check out or view online. Current Andover Newton students, faculty and staff have off-campus access to e-books. The off-campus login credentials are the same for all of the library's online resources.

The library catalog is also available in another iteration with the same up-to-date information.

Course Reserves

Books that are required or recommended reading for the current term are on reserve and can be requested at the reception desk. Reserve periods are dependent upon how many copies the library owns and whether the reading is required or recommended. Required readings not on reserve at the library are posted on Schoology

A large number of course reserve books are also available as e-books.

All of Trask Library’s e-books are in the Catalog. Their call number is always E-BOOK.  To access e-books, click on the title and then on the "External Link." E-Books reside on the ProQuest platform OR the Ebsco Platform. The two different platforms provide different interfaces. You may print and email pages from most of the library's e-books and many can be downloaded for up to 7 days at a time.

More Books

WorldCat is your link to the collections of more than 10,000 libraries and more than 2 billion items. The library borrows items via WorldCat on behalf of the Andover Newton Community. A world of library collections is accessible to you through the Interlibrary Loan Service. You'll receive an email when yours arrive. There is no charge to you for this service. The fulfillment of an interlibrary loan request can take a few days to a few weeks depending upon the rarity of the material and the response time of other libraries.

Fines are charged to encourage library users to return their materials so others can discover and use them. Users who accumulate $25 in fines cannot borrow any additional materials until the fines are paid.

  • Overdue fines are $0.25 per item, per day for items in general circulation.
  • Overdue fines for reserve items are $0.25 per HOUR.

A reminder notice is emailed on the day the book is due.  An overdue notice are also emailed. After the book is 4 weeks overdue, the borrower will be charged the replacement price of the book, a $20.00 processing fee per book, and accumulated overdue fines. Unpaid bills are submitted to the Business Office for collection. Frequent longterm overdues or book losses may result in the loss of library privileges.
