Learning in a faith community

Andover Newton is a place you can come to confirm your call, stretch your mind, enhance your faith, and broaden your horizons.  The rich religious and cultural diversity in this community provides the perfect backdrop for theological study.  Every new student adds to that diversity in important ways.  Whatever your form of ministry, wherever you think your call may take you, Andover Newton can equip you for the journey.  We encourage you to believe in your call, learn with us, and be prepared to lead when you leave."  - Dr. Nancy E. Nienhuis, Dean of Campus Life and Vice President of Operations

Vibrant worship and learning is the heart of community life at Andover Newton.   With a student body of about 300 souls celebrating nearly forty faith traditions, Andover Newton is a feast for the senses -- a rich and complex diversity that challenges each member of the community to go deeper and rise higher.  Whether you are just now considering what it might be like to study theology or have been following and refining God’s call from childhood, the faculty here welcomes you to join us for the most important educational experience of your lifetime and ours.   Classes here require you to bring your whole self to class:  all the brain cells and your entire spiritual being.  This is not a place to merely sit back and absorb.  This is a place to lean forward, listen carefully, reflect, absorb and react.   The world needs you, and Andover Newton can prepare you to be your best.

Our faculty are leaders in their fields, and bring both world-class education and active ministry experience to their roles.  Covenanted with American Baptist Churches USA and the United Church of Christ, about 2/3 of our faculty are rooted in these two faith traditions, while 1/3 reflect a broad array of theology from Unitarian Universalist to Muslim, Roman Catholic to Pentecostal Christian.  Published experts, these dedicated individuals are superb and faithful teachers first, putting students front and center every day.
Study programs range from workshops for the general public, to five short Certificates, four Master of Arts options, the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry.
