Vibrant and Supportive Community

“We will nurture a strong campus community as an essential and distinct part of our approach to theological education,” states our strategic plan, and the strength of our community is visible both on and off campus.

On campus one finds support networks through peers, faculty and staff. Also available to students are ‘resident representatives’, the New England Pastoral Institute, the Student Association and fellowship groups. Further, students are given ample space to interact together outside of the classroom in the new student lounge in upper Noyes, in the dining hall, in the new Appleton Chase common area and in the smaller worship rooms in the new Wilson Chapel.

Off campus, Andover Newton community members act as witnesses of their faith in their Field Education sites, in local hospitals as part of their Clinical Pastoral Education and during community day - a day when the campus is shut down and the dean of students office organizes opportunities for everyone from the Hill to go out into the larger community and act out love through a variety of work projects.

Indeed, if you blink when you visit campus, an opportunity to participate in a community activity might have flown by, but not to worry: there is always another opportunity to experience the vibrancy and support of this community just moments away.
