Conference on Ministries - March 24-25 - Help Needed
-------------------------------------
Dear Friends,

We trust your semester has gotten off to a good start! Andover Newton's Conference on Ministries will be held on campus March 24-25 (Friday & Saturday) and we are looking for student involvement. Those who have helped in the past have really enjoyed it, and we really appreciate it, as we know that current students are the best "recruiters" for the school.

If you can help in any of the following ways, please let us know:

1) Room preparation on Thursday morning/afternoon (3/23) in Appleton-Chase and Farwell:

* We'll be making beds for our visitors who will be staying on campus. We will assemble a team for each floor so that we can get through the rooms as quickly as possible.

2) Hospitality on Thursday night (3/23) for prospective students arriving early:

* Picking visitors up at the airport or train station (you would go in pairs and can get reimbursed for tolls, parking, etc.) A car is helpful/needed.

* Welcoming visitors as they arrive at Sturtevant (handing out room keys, directing them to their room, the cafeteria, Newton Centre restaurants, etc.)

3) Campus Tours on Friday (3/24) 10:30-11:00:

* Give our guests a tour of the campus. We can give you a fact sheet on the campus.

4) Campus Housing Tours on Friday (3/24) 2:00-2:30:

* Tour our campus housing. You will show the various options for individuals, couples and families. You do not have to show your own room, though people willing to show their rooms would be appreciated.

5) Possible Friday night Jam session (3/24) 9:00pm-??

* After the Carrie Newcomer concert, let's gather for some informal entertainment of our own. Bring instruments, poetry, dance, chorale, whatever you want and show off your talent or lack of talent.

We hope you can participate in some way in this important weekend in the life of the school. As always, student volunteers are invited to join us for meals on Friday as our way to say thanks. We hope to hear from you soon. Please call (or drop by to see him in Dabney) Darrick at 617-964-1100 x289 or email at djackson@ants.edu.

Thanks,
Peg, Alex, and Darrick

Peace and a Time for Every Season
--------------------------------------------
Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Noon in the cafeteria
Friday, Mar. 3 at Noon

And now is the time to join us if you've been thinking about it but have hesitated. We are putting together activities for a week of peace activities. Many are low maintenance, low fat, low carb but high fulfillment ventures to organize. Come to a meeting to learn more or email Cynthia if you can't attend but are interested in what you can do for your contribution to peace in the world (aside from the many amazing ministries you are already doing!)

There are two Peace Fellowship working meetings next week: Tuesday February 28th in the cafeteria at 12:00, and Friday March 3rd at 12:00. (Let me know if you want to attend the Friday meeting and we'll see if we should order pizza or not.)

If you are interested in being part of the Peace Fellowship but can't come to the meeting, please contact me to let me know. Hope to see you next week.

Seeking a Hurricane Relief Coordinator
--------------------------------------------
Last fall the ANTS Community adopted a plan to respond in the aftermath of the devastating hurricanes on the Gulf Coast. Andover Newton has 'adopted' Sixth Union Baptist Church in New Orleans, led by the Rev. Joe Howard.

Our goal is to assist the church in getting things ready to open back up towards the end of 2006. We have been in contact with Pastor Howard and are working on what their needs are.

We are now looking for a volunteer from the community to lead our efforts in providing ongoing support to the relief efforts. This person can be anyone from the Andover Newton community (Student, Staff, Faculty, Alum, Spouse, etc.). It could even be done by a team of 2-3 people. The Relief Coordinator(s) will facilitate the school's effort in helping to restore Sixth Union Baptist Church. They are in no way expected to do all the work themselves, but the expectation is that they will serve as the point person/liaison for the ANTS community.

The time commitment for this position will be from now until mid-semester Spring 2007, with the bulk of the work being completed by the end of the 2006 Calendar year.

Interested parties should contact me at (617) 964-1100 or nnienhuis@ants.edu.

FROM NICK CARTER: A Unique Interfaith Series - Parting of the Ways
-------------------------------------------
Sundays, March 5, 12, 19 and 26
7:00 p.m. at Andover Newton and Hebrew College

Beginning March 5 and running for 4 consecutive Sunday evenings, Andover Newton and Hebrew College will offer a lecture series that explores the separation of Christianity and Judaism during the second through fourth centuries. Each program will feature an outstanding scholar to examine this critical period in the history of both the Jewish and Christian faiths.

At Andover Newton, we believe "border crossing skills" are essential to transformative ministry in the 21st century. In these 4 excellent programs we have a chance to explore the border itself, even as it was being created. Students, clergy, and lay persons will benefit greatly from this chance to grow in our understanding of the relationship between Christians and Jews.

Don't miss it!

Nick Carter

NOTE: 50% of the seats are already reserved for the first lecture. We expect it will sell out sometime next week. So make your reservation NOW!
