Walk the Walk / Talk the Talk - Preaching the Journey of Holy Week -
March 13
---------------------------------
with Dr. Peter Civetta

Sponsored by the Worship, Theology and the Arts Program

Monday, March 13, 2006
9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In the Meetinghouse
Lunch provided, $35

This workshop will focus on the journey of Holy Week, discerning how we
can walk this most amazing of seven-day experiences so we will be
better able to preach it to our congregations. Together, we will
explore not only what each of these days mean, but more specifically
what they mean to us and our communities at this time.

This seminar will also explore the many different ways to preach. From
using different formats and styles to understanding the importance of
body language and vocal intonation, the workshop seeks to foster your
ability to communicate clearly and completely. Overall, this seminar
offers an intense internal exploration of what Holy Week can mean for
you as well as exploring the best external means of communicating
through the act of preaching. Come join us for an engaging and
uplifting experience designed to get you ready to not only walk the
walk, but also talk the talk of this year's journey of Holy Week.

Dr. Peter Civetta received his Ph.D. in Theatre Studies from Cornell
University, writing his dissertation on the performance of preaching
across faith traditions. He was a member of the Commission on Liturgy
and Music for the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York. He currently
serves as a member of the Living Liturgy Task Force for the Episcopal
Diocese of New Hampshire. He will be creating and leading an upcoming
conference for the Cathedral College in Washington, DC called "Proclaim
the Truth with Boldness: A Performative Approach to Preaching."
