Spring Meeting of the Northeast Region of the
Evangelical Missiological Society

April 8, 2006

Mission in Contexts of Violence

How does the church of Jesus Christ carry out his mission in violent eras and settings?
What are the priorities?
What methods should be used?
How are mission personnel to be recruited?
How should they be cared for?
What happens when missionaries enter violent settings? How is the setting changed? How is the missionary changed?

These are some of the many aspects of mission in the face of violence that will be explored under the theme "Mission in Contexts of Violence" at the event to be held on Saturday, April 8, 2006.

EMS focuses on missionary practice. Presenters for the day include people with missionary experience in the Middle East, Central Asia, Northeast Africa, and Zimbabwe.

I invite you to join this day of reflection and discussion. The sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 5:00 p.m. Registration and coffee time open at 8:30 a.m. The meeting venue is the Overseas Ministries Study Center, 490 Prospect Street, New Haven, Connecticut.

Your registration fee includes lunch and refreshments. Registration by March 24 is $15 ($10 for students); late registration is $20 ($15 for students).

For further information about EMS, see www.missiology.org/EMS/. Travel directions to OMSC are posted at www.omsc.org/directions.html.
