Being the Change We Want to See - Conversations, April 24 - 28
---------------------------------------
Over the past few weeks a small group of students has been discussing
the issues of our institutional culture or the "unwritten curriculum"
here on campus. This impromptu conversation has raised many questions
about who we are and how we are seeking to Build the Beloved Community.
Because we are aware that there are several other impromptu
conversations within the student population addressing this same issue,
we would like to open the conversation to the entire student body. We
do this in the hope that we can not only find the broken places, but
begin repairing the breach in order to truly live into the vision of
being the place where the "pioneering leadership that is necessary to
transform communities of faith in the 21st century" (ANTS Strategic
Plan) is formed.

Each day during the week of April 24th there will be an opportunity for
the students to be in dialogue with one another about the "unwritten
curriculum". By using a set of focusing questions we will begin
defining our current situation and dreaming our ideal situation. We
will then be asking participants to name what helps or hinders our
movement from where we are to where we want to be. At the end of the
week we hope to have as broad a picture as possible which will then
guide us in determining what comes next.

For now, this will be a student only conversation. The hope is that we
can create safe space for all students who want to be heard.

Meeting Location and Times: Upper Noyes

Monday dinner 5-6PM
Tuesday through Friday lunch 12-1PM

Anyone who can't make it to one of these meetings is encouraged to
submit materials via email to Erica Baron at ebaron@ants.edu

Focusing Questions for the Meetings:

-In relationship to being a student here at ANTS

-What is your current situation?

-What is your ideal situation?

-What factors work against your ideal situation?

-What factors work for your ideal situation?

Facilitators at the meetings:

Erica Baron, Stephanie Haskins, Lisa Kemper, Robin Lunn, and Dawn
Sorensen

So, please participate in whatever way you can. There will be an
opportunity each day for face to face dialogue as well as the option to
send an email response to the questions posed. It is only in our united
willingness to participate that we can Build the Beloved Community. Let
us all Be the Change We Want to See.
