ANTS Student E-News - Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - IMPORTANT NOTICE of SCHOOL CLOSING

School Closing for Construction Work - July 21 and 28 - NO ELECTRICAL
Good people:

This Friday (July 21) and next (July 28th) we will be closing the
school all day for some major electrical and plumbing work necessitated
by the construction of the Wilson Chapel.

On both days the electrical service for almost the entire campus will
be shut off. The duration of the work will be from 8:00AM until 4:00PM.
There is an outside chance the work will not take the entire time, but
you shouldn't count on it. While we are doing all this we decided to
take advantage of the moment and do some of the pending plumbing work,
which will require that we shut down water service to the campus from
about 10AM to 2PM on the 28th.

Given the scope of this, it only made sense to close the school. I'm
sorry for the inconvenience, but this couldn't be avoided. BTW - Colby,
Herrick Cricle, and Hebrew College will not be affected.

A word to the wise: It might be smart to unplug any devices that are
susceptible to power surges (computers, TV's, answering machines, etc)
if you don't have a surge protector. Refrigerators, stoves, microwaves,
etc are fine - particularly as you will want your fridge to come back on
as soon as the power returns.

In the not too distant future we will also begin some work on electric
and gas lines that will require digging in the roads in front of Fuller
and the upper portion of Herrick Road (Herrick House up past the back of
the library).

In all these things I thank you in advance for your patience and
And enjoy the extra time off!

School Closing - NO WEB MAIL on July 21 and 28
Because we will have no electricity on July 21 and July 28, our
computer systems will be shut down at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 and
Thursday, July 27. You will not be able to send or receive e-mail in
your account after that time. E-mail service will be restored
on Saturday morning each weekend.

Cooling Center In Lower Noyes
Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty:

The National Weather Center has issued nationwide extreme weather
advisories as temperatures are expected to climb to 100 degrees in the
next few days. Recognizing that many residents on campus do not have air
conditioning available, the Student Association and Student Life have
arranged for Lower Noyes to be a designated Cooling Center refuge for
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Lower Noyes will remain
open and air conditioned daily from 8:00 am - 10:00 pm. Additionally,
the SA will be providing bottled water and cold drinks free of charge.

The SA urge all residents to remain hydrated and take proper
precautions against heat-related injuries such as heat exhaustion and
heat stroke. Please feel free to use Lower Noyes as a refuge from the
heat over the next few days.

Student Association President: Len Hayward
