Peace Fellowship Discussion on Middle East Conflict - Monday, October 23

The ANTS Peace Fellowship is pleased to host Jonathan Frerichs, Programme Executive for the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs at the World Council of Churches (Geneva), for two events:

Noon - 1 p.m., in the Small Dining Room:

Informal conversation with Jonathan Frerichs about his peace work for the WCC, including his work this week at the United Nations lobbying for an international agreement on the sale of arms; and,

1 - 2 p.m. in the Peck Conference Room (Worcester Hall):

A presentation by and conversation with Jonathan Frerichs about the current situation in the Middle East, cosponsored by "Journeys on the Hill" with comment by Rabbi Sandy Seltzer and others.

Both events are free, and open to the public.

Weekly Peace Vigil on the Quad - Wednesdays

Join the weekly Peace Vigil on the quad every Wednesday at noon. This vigil will take place every Wednesday throughout the year as we take an hour of our time to stand in unity against various forms of injustice and violence in our world today. It’s a great opportunity to commune with each other and get a chance to hear what the Peace Fellowship is up to if you’re not able to make it to the meetings. Please feel free to bring scripture, poetry or a topic to discuss. Bring signs, songs and smiles.

Join us for rehearsal from 11:50am to 12:15pm every Wednesday in the Meetinghouse. All welcome! No singing experience necessary! Most Wednesdays, the song we learn and rehearse will also be the anthem in that day's Community Chapel (1pm in Colby). So come out and support community singing, and let a joyful noise resound from the Hill!

On Wednesday evening October 25th, Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS) will host an historic dialogue between the national leaders of the United Church of Christ (UCC) and the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Rev. John Thomas, General Minister and President of the UCC and Rev. William Sinkford, President, of the UUA, will reflect on the historical affinities and divisions between their denominations, and then go on to explore current realities and future possibilities.

Fellowship for the Peace Fellowship - Thurs., OCtober 26

Join us for fellowship over dinner as we consider peacemaking on the Hill and beyond. Kurt and Eric have been making connections with other BTI seminaries and have been holding vigils on the Quad. Tim is organizing informal faculty forums around peace issues. We have a weekend workshop on nonviolence planned. What are your interests? How do you promote peacemaking in your family, community, or church?

Our next meeting is Thursday October 26th in the cafeteria at 5:00pm. If you are interested in being part of the Peace Fellowship but can't come to the meeting, please contact me to let me know. Hope to see you next week.
