Border Crossings Informational Meeting

January 21st – January 31st

Led by Professors Matthew Boulton and Brita Gill-Austern

This year’s Border Crossing trip will take place on the border between Mexico and the U.S., with a substantial part of our time being spent in Nogales, Mexico, a border town near Tuscon, Arizona. The focus of this class and trip will be on immigration and the related issues of global economics and the militarization of the border. We shall study multiple perspectives on immigration and the popular resistance to oppression and violence as it relates to immigration. With immigration occupying the spotlight in public and political debate, it is more important than ever that US citizens and the church witness first hand a reality affected by our policies and lifestyles. We will be joining with the bi-national, non-profit organization of Borderlinks for our time at the border.

Join us for this dynamic immersion experience in the compelling setting of the borderlands. Be ready to open your hearts and minds in new ways and return home transformed and ready to share with others and your churches about the complex dynamics of immigration and the positive role churches can play in the national debate around immigration issues. This class meets the Justice Matters requirement or a renewal area requirement for FHS, GCIM or TPL.

Information Session Tuesday 12 p.m. October 10th Small Dining Room – Sign up early, spaces limited!!! If you are interested and cannot attend, please contact either of the professors.
