Weight Watchers Update
-------------------------------------------
We have enough interested participants to request a Weight Watchers
meeting on campus. Employees of ANTS who have HMO Blue health care are
covered up to $150.00 for using Weight Watchers. If you are not an ANTS
employee, check with your health insurance provider - many insurers
will cover some costs of weight loss programs.
We are thinking that Tuesday or Thursday between the hours of 11:30
-2:30. Meetings run for 45 min.
Feeling thinner already!
More information from Weight Watchers:
"Weight Watchers requires a minimum of 15 participants and it is a
prepaid program. Cash, check, Master Card, Visa, Discover and American
Express are all accepted forms of payment. The minimum number of weeks
for a series is 10; however, the group can determine how many weeks
they would like the series to be. The cost averages out to be $13/week
prepaid. That means a 10 week series is $130, 11 weeks is $143, 12
weeks $156, etc.
Weight Watchers will also be running a promotion of a "free meeting"
added on to any series that begins or renews between October 15th and
December 17th (that means a 10 week series @ $130 will now be 11 weeks,
etc.)."

—---------------------------------------------------------------
The Vagina Monologues are coming to ANTS!
—---------------------------------------------------------------
The Vagina Monologues will be performed at ANTS in late February. The
history of the monologues is one of interest. Every year, The Vagina
Monologues are performed around the world to educate all on the heinous
violence women suffer on a daily basis. Through humor, tears and
relative stories, the Vagina Monologues is for anyone who needs and
wants to understand women, their feelings about their bodies and their
very being.
With the theme, Until The Violence Stops, The Vagina Monologues are
based on real women's stories so it allows women who hear the stories
to know that they are not alone in their own experience. It helps
people who have experienced violence heal. It inspires people - women
AND men - to get involved in V-Day’s efforts to stop violence against
women and girls. It removes the shame often associated with the word
"vagina" and the vagina itself and instead celebrates the word and it
celebrates women.
Please welcome this amazing opportunity to bring awareness, and work
together to end violence against women and girls. Even if you aren't
excited about this opportunity, many people in your congregations and
young adult groups will be seeing, or have seen this production, and
it may be important to know what they are seeing and how you might
incorporate a discussion of the Vagina Monologues into the life of
your church.
Auditions will be held in December, (date TBA). I am counting on men
to become involved also, by working in whatever capacity they feel
comfortable working in.
More news in the coming week, but in the meantime, please direct any
questions to Karen L. Hernandez-Andrews at kandrews@ants.edu or
KarenLHAndrews@aol.com

Sharon Taylor Resigns to Accept New Position
--------------------------------------------------
Sharon Taylor has resigned her position as Director of the Franklin
Trask Library, a position she has held for more than seventeen years,
to accept a position as Director of the Library at Pittsburgh
Theological Seminary. Under her leadership the Trask Library has
flourished and occupies a central place in the life of the school.
During her tenure at Andover Newton Theological School, Sharon has been
a tireless advocate for the library and the resources needed to
maintain its prominent place on our campus and in the BTI as well.
We will have an opportunity to recognize Sharon’s service to Andover
Newton Theological School before she begins her service at Pittsburgh
Theological Seminary. I will begin working on a plan of transition
with Sharon and the Library Staff to insure that our library services
will continue to meet the needs of our students and faculty.
We are pleased that her gifts and abilities have been recognized by her
new school but we will miss her competent and friendly leadership. We
wish her well as she accepts the new challenges that await her in
Pittsburgh.

Making Peace: A Faculty/Student Conversation
--------------------------------------------------
Special Guest: Dr. Matthew Myer Boulton
Wednesday, November 28th, 5 pm to 6
Small Dining Room
Join Professor Matthew Boulton and the Peace Fellowship for another
informal discussion about what making peace means to us as individuals,
as members of this community, as future ministers and as educators.
Bring your dinner to the small dining room to hear his thoughts and
feelings, and share your own.
This is the second in a series of conversations sponsored by the
Peace
Fellowship, which is bringing together faculty and students at Andover
Newton to share our understandings of how peace-making fits into our
lives personally, politically and theologically. Each conversation will
feature a different faculty member as the guest presenter and
discussion leader.
However we may understand Jesus from our different denominational
backgrounds, his blessing of the peace-makers is indisputable. Peace
was at the center of his ministry. Where do we place it in our own?
How will we answer his call to make peace?
Wednesday, November 28 at 5 pm in the Small Dining Room. See you
there.
Dr. Sharon Thornton will be joining us on December 11th as the
third
guest in our series.
Thanks.
In the Spirit of Peace
Tim House, for the Peace Fellowship
