2006 Shoebox Ministry for the Homeless
October 25 - Dec. 21

It's time to kick off the 3rd Annual ANTS Holiday Shoebox Ministry for the Homeless.
Oct 25 - Dec 21!

As you prepare your Holiday shoebox for the homeless pray and let the Spirit guide you in its preparation. Trust the Holy Spirit to guide your gift box to the right homeless person. A personal poem or a note written out of prayer and love to the unknown recipient can be life transforming for its recipient. Take some time to meditate and pray before you prepare you box. Use your non-rational being to prepare this gift for your fellow man, woman, or child who must suffer the indignity of life without a place to call home.

Rev. Toni DiPina

Open Invitation to Prayer Meetings - Mondays
Mondays until December 11

The Men's Fellowship has decided to use the remainder of its meetings this semester for times of prayer. We'll continue to meet every Monday from 1:00-1:50pm in the Berkeley Room until December 11th. These will simply be times for members of the ANTS community to come together in prayer. However, on December 4th we will also be assembling care packages for the Shoebox Ministry, which includes writing prayers for those being care for. All are welcome and we hope to see you there!

Making Peace: A Faculty/Student Conversation - Monday, Dec. 11
Special Guest: Dr. Sharon Thornton
Monday, December 11th, 5 pm to 6
In the Meetinghouse - Bring your dinner tray

Join Professor Sharon Thornton and the Peace Fellowship for another informal discussion about what making peace means to us as individuals, as members of this community, as future ministers and as educators. Bring your dinner tray to the Meetinghouse to hear his thoughts and feelings, and share your own.
This is the third in a series of conversations sponsored by the Peace Fellowship, which is bringing together faculty and students at Andover Newton to share our understandings of how peace-making fits into our lives personally, politically and theologically. Each conversation will feature a different faculty member as the guest presenter and discussion leader.
However we may understand Jesus from our different denominational backgrounds, his blessing of the peace-makers is indisputable. Peace was at the center of his ministry. Where do we place it in our own? How will we answer his call to make peace?
Monday, December 11th at 5 pm in the Meetinghouse. See you there.

Sacred Dance and the Labyrinth are both meditative tools for encountering the holy. Simple repetitive steps and beautiful music create a sense of inner peace, much like a mantra quiets the mind by offering a focus. Sacred dance on the labyrinth offers another way to engage the whole body while inviting the mind and spirit to go deeper. Simple steps, patiently taught, no dance experience necessary.
