New Business Hours in the Business Office
Starting on Monday, January 29, 2007, the Business Office will be open
on Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office will not be
closed during the lunch hour.

CONNECT Tip - Firefox 1.5 and the Textbox
Problem: The Textbox does not work properly with Firefox 1.5

1. The blinking text cursor does not appear when you click in the
Textbox, but you can enter text anyways.

2. You cannot use the tools on the toolbar to change text formatting.

3. When you try to edit your message, no content appears in the

Solution: Upgrade to Firefox 2.0. The Textbox works as expected in
Firefox 2.0.

CONNECT Tip - Uploading Files to Connect
Problem: Students or intructors cannot view files uploaded through the
File Exchange

Solution: An error occurs if an uploaded file does not have an
extension specified. When you upload a file to Connect, you must
include the file extension in the filename. For example, Personal
Reflections.doc. The ".doc" file extension tells Connect what kind of
file to display; in this case, Microsoft Word. If the file extension is
missing, Connect looks for a file with an extension of "htm" - which
does not exist.

Reminder about filenames:
Connect has a problem with files, pages and roles that contain the
following characters:

# - Pound sign
& - Ampersand
/ - Slash character

Students, please do not use these characters in your file names, if you
plan to share them in Connect.

Instructors, please do not use these characters in files, page names,
or roles.

Heat Maintenance on Fridays
As you know from a previous enews announcement, the Building and
Grounds staff services the heating system each Friday, a process that
requires that the system be turned off for a brief period. When we
experience very cold temperatures, as will be the case this Friday, the
heating system is not turned off. I hope this information allays any
fears you may have about buildings getting too cold on Fridays when
outside temperatures drop.
