Paper Recycling at ANTS: We Need You - April 25-May 11
Join in the ANTS Spring Paper Drive: Wednesday, April 25 until Friday, May 11.
Our goal? To collect at least 2 tons of paper by May 11.

Did you know?
*ANTS has a paper collection bin behind the Meeting House.
*The recycling company provides the bin for free if we produce at least 2 tons per month.
*We're in danger of losing the bin, since we've been producing only 0.25 tons per month.

We are asking every member of the ANTS community to bring in at least one paper shopping bag full of paper between now and May 11. All paper is acceptable; magazines, catalogues, and newspapers are great. Please, no phonebooks or cardboard of any kind.

Future of the Student Association - Meeting, Tuesday May 1
12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

For the last two years the Student Association Executive Committee has had to fill two to three offices by arm twisting and cajoling because, at the time of elections, there were no candidates for the positions. It was not unusual to have two or three officers trying to do the job of five.

For the last two weeks the Student Association has announced election of officers and invited folks to run. Currently there is one candidate for President and two candidates for Vice President. There are no candidates to fill the positions of secretary, treasurer and student life chair.

Rather than continue to have a Student Association under staffed, the executive board has decided to step back and look at the viability of the Association. We will hold a meeting May 1 from 12 - 1 to discuss the possibility of suspending the Student Association for a year to re-evaluate its effectiveness. We ask that all fellowship chairs be present.

If anyone has questions, please email the Student Association:

A Farewell To Colby Chapel - Wednesday, May 2
1:00 p.m. in Colby Chapel

Next Wednesday, May 2nd, the traditional Senior Chapel Service will be held at 1:00PM in Colby Chapel. This is the last chapel service of the academic year. It is marked by the offering of 'milk and honey' to the graduating seniors, and has come to be a cherished time in the life of the school.

This year, however, the Senior Chapel Service will take on special meaning. As this is the last service of the year, and with the rapidly approaching opening of the new Wilson Chapel, the May 2nd program will be the last formal service ever to be held in Colby Chapel. The Chapel, which was first dedicated in 1897 (it was formerly the school's library) and then renovated in 1930, has played a distinctive role in the life of Andover Newton for 110 years. Generations of students have worshiped there. Distinguished faculty and clergy have preached there (one faculty member even died there!). Some have heard their call to ministry there, many have found solace and inspiration there, and countless others preached their first sermon there. Dozens of weddings have taken place there as well.

For this reason, at the close of the Senior Chapel Service, there will be a special ritual of thanksgiving and farewell to Colby Chapel. A central feature of this ritual will be a procession across campus to deliver the sacred objects (cross, candlesticks, Bible, communion ware, etc) to the new Wilson Chapel. Current students, staff and faculty will be joined by Andover Newton alums to participate in this historic moment of transition.

I invite you all to come and be a part of this important ritual. Please feel free to invite others. In this our 200th year as a school we are keenly aware of our past and we know that how we end things is just as important as how we begin things.

President Nick Carter

Weekly Peace Vigil on the Quad - Wednesdays
Join the weekly Peace Vigil on the quad every Wednesday at noon. This vigil will take place every Wednesday throughout the year as we take an hour of our time to stand in unity against various forms of injustice and violence in our world today. It's a great opportunity to commune with each other and get a chance to hear what the Peace Fellowship is up to if you're not able to make it to the meetings. Please feel free to bring scripture, poetry or a topic to discuss. Bring signs, songs and smiles.

Open Labyrinth Walks - Wednesdays
The final two walks of the semester will be on the Wednesday nights of April 25 and May 2.
As always, the walks are in the Meetinghouse from 7:30-9:30 p.m. You can come anytime during those hours. All are welcome, especially those who have never walked a labyrinth before!
