India by Immersion: Dialogue and Service - January 2008
-----------------------------------------------
Thursday, January 3, 2008 to Saturday, January 19, 2008

This travel study seminar communicates firsthand empathetic understanding and experience of dialogue and service of

Christians and their fellow Non-Christians in the picturesque south Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The participants

of this seminar will learn to appreciate how Christians have been interacting and cooperating with their fellow Indians

belonging to Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, and folk religions. Thus they will have ample opportunities to know the dynamics of

dialogue and service.

Who can participate? This travel seminar is open to any current students or alums of Andover Newton Theological School or of

any other BTI schools.

Total cost of the trip: $3,200 (including round trip economy air ticket Boston-Madras-Boston, local travel and accommodation,

most of the meals, and entrance fee to museums and other places of importance). We leave Boston on January 3, 2008 and shall

return to Boston on January 19, 2008.

Academic credit: This course can be taken for academic credit through Andover Newton Theological School.

Financial assistance: Thanks to a restricted scholarship support from the V. Eugene and Rosalie DeFreitas Charitable

Foundation, Andover Newton students are eligible for financial assistance in connection to the trip.
