ANTS Connect System Offline on Sept. 29th
------------------------
The Connect system at ANTS http://connect.ants.edu will be down from
aprox. 12PM-10PM this Saturday September 29th. This outage is due to
system
upgrades. ANTS webmail will continue to work during this time period.

Thank You,
IT Staff

------------------------
Minimum Payment for fall
------------------------
Students who register for the fall term must have paid (and/or have had
credited to their student accounts from student loans, ANTS financial
aid, or outside aid) at least 25% of their total charges for fall, by
September 28, 2007, or they will risk being dropped from their fall
courses. Resident students who fail to meet the 25% requirement may also
lose their privilege to stay in ANTS housing. Please contact Peter
Gibson in the Business Office (617 964 1100 x218; pgibson@ants.edu) if
you have questions about the amount you owe on your bill for fall.

------------------------
Reserving Rooms at Andover Newton: Nuts and Bolts
------------------------
To reserve a room at Andover Newton for your student group or office
staff/faculty meeting, please fill out the appropriate form on the
Andover Newton web site at:
http://www.ants.edu/community/facilitiesforms.htm. Please send in one
form for each event. If you want to check the availability of rooms
before you submit a form you are welcome to come and take a look at the
facilities reservation notebook with Ruth Edens or Amelia O'Dowd in
Worcester 101. Unfortunately, due to the amount of requests we get for
rooms we aren't able to review the notebook over the phone with you, so
please plan to come in person to review the book.

Rooms need to be reserved at least 2 weeks in advance. If you need
set-up and reserve later than that we cannot guarantee that it will
happen, in fact, Building and Grounds only guarantees set-up if they
have a month's notice so please plan ahead. If you find yourself
needing reservations the week of an event, call Amelia O'Dowd at
extension 261.

Here's how to reserve a room. There are 3 different forms:

a. Request For Facilities: used to reserve a room on campus
b. Request For Building Setup: used to request that Building and
Grounds set the room up for you in a specific way (Normally this is only
done if you need furniture brought into the room that is different from
the furniture already in the room. If you plan to use furniture already
in the room, please plan to set the room up yourself.)
c. Request For Food Service: used to request catering for your event
(If you request food be sure to also request that tables be set up to
hold the food, via the "Building Set-up" form.)

How to Complete the Forms
1. Click on the name of the form you need.
2. Open the downloaded form in Microsoft Word.
3. Fill in the information just as you would on a paper form.
4. Using the toolbar in Word, click on "File" then "Save As."
5. In the "File Name" field, type in the name of the room and the date
then hit "Save". Make sure you save the file to somewhere you will be
able to find it.
6. Using your campus email account, prepare an email to
stuservices@ants.edu, typing in any information you feel necessary.
7. Click on "Attach", find the request you just saved by room name and
date and click once then hit "OK".
8. Hit "Send".

If you have any questions, please contact Amelia O'Dowd at ext. 261 or
AODowd@ants.edu.

Upcoming ANTS UU worship services
------------------------
Dear friends,

The ANTS UU student worship services are held each Thursday at 1:00pm
in Wilson Chapel. Everyone is welcome. Nancy Banks will lead this
week's service on the theme of marriage equality and "Moving Beyond
the Soup Kitchen". Come and join with your colleagues for a peaceful
hour, to feed your spirit and refresh your mind!

Here is our current schedule for the fall semester:

* Sept 27 - Nancy Banks
* Oct 4 - Tim House
* Oct 11 - Julianna Donofrio
* Oct 18 - (open)
* Oct 25 - Christina Sillari
* Nov 1, 8, 15, 29: (open)
* Dec 6, 13, 20: (open)

As you can see, there are plenty of open dates available starting in
mid-October. Would you consider preaching or leading a service? Here
is a golden opportunity to get some practice, to try out new worship
ideas, and deepen fellowship. We also invite worship leaders from the
faculty, and from the greater UU community outside ANTS, to
participate in these services. Please let us know if there's somebody
you'd like to bring in to preach.

Blessings,
From your worship coordinators:
Cathy French (cmfrench@juno.com)
Bruce Taylor (bruce.c.taylor@verizon.net)

would love to have students from Andover Newton represented at the
conference.

In addition to hearing over the course of the three days ³big name²
speakers
such as Bill McKibben and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. there will be working
sessions on topics such as faith and the environment, local currencies
-
tools for building sustainable local economies, personal sustainability
and
social activism, water stewardship, reconnecting with the land. Visit
http://www.connectingforchange.org to learn more.

If you are interested in attending and would like to join with other
ANTS

Reminder from writing tutor
----------------------
Just a reminder: I'm happy to work with you on anything you might be
writing (or contemplating writing!)

I'm on campus Tuesdays 10 to 3, and alternate Thursdays 12 to 3, in
Worcester 302. I'm happy to talk with you once, or regularly, on any
topic related to writing at ANTS. You can feel free to drop by, but
it's usually wise to make an appointment.

Or, you may want to join one of the writing groups that meet on
Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime. All ANTS students are welcome, but
please talk to me before you come.

Please note that I won't be here Oct. 4 or 9, and may not answer
email that week. But I'm happy to see you on the 2nd, or the 11th, or
through the rest of the year. Why not come fairly soon, and get a jump
on those assignments?
