ANTS Student E-News - Special Announcement - Rev. Peter Gomes

Hear and talk with one of America's greatest preachers
Andover Newton Bicentennial Preaching Program

Rev. Peter Gomes
Special worship and forum for clergy on preaching

As part of ANDOVER NEWTON'S 200th anniversary celebrations, we are
offering a major series on the future of great preaching in America.

The series will open NOVEMBER 7th with a special program featuring Rev.
Peter Gomes, the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey
Minister in The Memorial Church at Harvard University. Widely considered
to be one of America's most distinguished preachers, Gomes will preach
at the 1:00PM November 7th worship service in Wilson Chapel and then
stay on for a facilitated dialogue with all those in attendance. The
Gomes program is free of charge

The full series will launch in January with a special two part program
and then continue in February through April with 6 more guests. While
the series will feature some of the most widely recognized names in
American preaching, it will also highlight new and emerging voices we
believe represent the future of the art.
A special forum for area clergy will follow each program in conjunction
with the worship services. These limited subscription programs will
offer participants the opportunity to discuss both inspiration and
technique with the guest preachers. The series will have a subscription
fee. Discounts will be offered to Andover Newton alums.
The series will be led by Rev Bill Turpie, producer and host of The
Great Preachers series on Odyssey and Hallmark Channels. Turpie will be
joined by Rev. Martin Copenhaver and Rev. Burns Stanfield, Adjunct
Professor of Preaching and Pastor of South Boston Presbyterian Church.

Look for promotional brochure on entire series in coming weeks.
