Spring 2008 Registration Is On Connect!!
------------------------
Spring Registration for seniors begins on December 10th, 2007 and for
all students on December 15th, 2007. Registration will continue until
December 28th, 2007. The final add/drop date for Spring Registration is
February 15th, 2008.

Please note that Spring '08 Registration will be completed on Connect!

You can access Connect at http://connect.ants.edu using your Username
and Password. This Username and Password are the same ones that you used
for Fall and Winter Registration on Connect. If you do not have your
Username and Password for Connect, please call the Help Desk at
617-964-1100 x314.

There are detailed instructions for Online Registration on the main page
of the Student tab in Connect. Once you have logged in, click on
"Student" at the top of the page. You will be redirected to a page
containing the directions for Registration, Online Bill Payment, and the
Online Add/Drop procedures. Follow these instructions for registration.

PLEASE NOTE: Your Spring '08 Registration is not complete and will not
be finalized until you have filled out the Spring 2008 Registration and
Services Confirmation Form.
If you have any questions about this process that are not answered in
the Registration Instructions found on the Student Page in Connect,
please contact the Help Desk at 617-964-1100 x314.

Course Evaluations Online
------------------------
Greetings in this season of hope and waiting. I hope this email finds
you well and bringing the term to a happy ending.

As you might have learned already, the Dean's Team is working this year
to move what once were paper, in-class evaluations onto the Internet.
Please keep your eyes peeled for emails from Jennifer Shaw,
Administrative Assistant to the Faculty.

We are using Connect to email students. If you did not enter an
alternate email into Connect, the message from Jennifer will come to
your ANTS account. Please direct questions about Connect to Evn Tomeny,
etomeny@ants.edu. The emails contain links you will follow to
confidential course surveys. These evaluations are required and provide
a huge service to the academic life of the school.

Emails will arrive in the next few days. We had some minor technical
problems early on, but we have addressed most of them. Your feedback and
suggestions on the process have been helpful and are welcome.

Again, these surveys are not only required (just as in-class evaluations
were completed by all in attendance in the past), they are essential to
our work as a school.

Thank you for working with us as we seek to improve our evaluation
process. All the best to you and yours!

Holiday Party - Update
------------------------
December 11th - Holiday Party will be held in the cafe instead of the
Meeting House - 5:00 pm

This is a buffet Dinner with holiday music in the back ground playing.
It will be a time to give and receive christmas good wishes, cheers and
ados in celebration of the holiday season and the close of the fall
sememser.
Because of the space change we will need a head count. Keep your eyes
open for more info in the up and coming weeks. The party is sponsored by
Student Life and will be free of charge. For more info you can contact

Potluck - December 21st - 5:00 to whenever

Please join us for an evening of fun and on Friday, December 21st. We'll be playing games, making Holiday crafts
and
eating whatever you bring. The convection oven bakes too...think
cookies!

Holiday Shoebox Ministry
------------------------
The Annual ANTS Shoebox Ministry is taking off. We've had several
students and local churches begin to bring in their donations. I've
spoken with the administrators of Pine Street Inn and Victory House and
they wish to pass their gratitude along for your help. Both agencies
depend on your help in order to pass on toiletry items to their clients
this season and throughout the year. Thank you all for bringing in your
donations before 12/20. Without your help many people who need help
would go without.

If you cannot complete registration online, paper registration forms may
be picked up in the Registrar's Office or by sending a self-address,
stamped envelope to:

How to Register for Field Education, Second Required Semester **


1. Register for CMFE 601Y (1.5 credits) in the spring.
2. Register for one regular (3 credit) Spring course that is designated
"P3" for the Professor-Practitioner Program. This course will meet
the related curricular requirement.
3. In addition, register for that course's P3 section, which carries an
additional 1.5 credits.
4. If you are unable to take any of the P3 courses/sections, you may
register for the stand-alone Integrative Seminar, CMFE 621. To receive
permission to pursue this option, you must submit a curriculum worksheet
or transcript to Sarah Drummond and, in most cases, meet with her.
5.**Must enroll ON LINE in ONE required orientation session, which
focuses on boundaries training:

New Spring Course!

INTE 764S
Introduction to Contemporary Islam
Professor Farid Esack
Wednesday 4:15-6:15 p.m.

This course is intended to provide students with knowledge of and
insight into developments and debates in the contemporary Muslim world.
These issues are shaped by local and global socio-historical
developments that are often lived out in tension with other communities,
nations or business interests. Students will examine some of the
critical issues that arise from the Islamic encounter with modernity and
post-modernity as Muslims struggle to remain faithful to tradition as
well as to their awareness of the inalienability of human rights and the
interrelatedness of the destiny of humankind.
** Note: This course is open to students at Hebrew College and Andover
Newton Theological School. Enrollment with permission of interfaith
faculty advisor-Dr. Gregory Mobley (ANTS) and Rabbi Or Rose (HC).

Messiah Sing Update
------------------------
Messiah Sing this Friday, December 14

Thanks to an enthusiastic response of the invitation to sing and the
obvious relief about the end of the semester and the coming of the
nativity, a date has been set coming Friday, December 14, from approximately 5:30-8:30 P.M. we shall
gather at my home at 40 Cypress Street, Newton Centre (I live within
walking distance from campus, literally just down at the bottom of the
hill). I propose an expansion of the original concept of Handel and egg
nog; as we are already meeting at the dinner hour, why don't we get
take-out too? It has been suggested that we celebrate in true Southern
style and solicit our food from Blue Ribbon BBQ
(http://www.blueribbonbbq.com/menu.htm) . Yep, there's nothing like
greens 'n' ribs to celebrate the Christmas season right! So, the plan is
to call or email me with your order, I will pick it up and meet y'all at
my place for croonin' and communion. And, yes, we will still provide the

Bookstore hours for December and January
------------------------
The bookstore is open its regular hours Mon.-Thurs. 9 am - 6 pm, Fri. 9
am - 4 pm throughout December and January so you can purchase books for
Winterim and have them shipped to you after you leave campus. Spring
textbooks will begin arriving in early January.

The store will close Dec. 24 and 25, as well as the afternoon of Dec. 31
and New Year's Day.

Many Winterim texts are already in; others are arriving daily. If you
want to get a head start on your reading, contact us and we'll get you
going.

Stafford Loan Info
------------------------
STAFFORD LOAN INFORMATION

As of January 1, lenders will be taking fees out of new Stafford Loans.
All loans approved prior to January 1 will not have any fees taken out.

If you need a Stafford Loan or need additional funds, I will need to
have the loan paperwork by December 14th.

The Sacred Journey: Leading a Congregation Through Lent
Saturday, January 26, 2008 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
$40 includes lunch

How does your congregation observe the season of Lent?

In this workshop, led by Shelley Stackhouse, we will explore both
ancient and new traditions for walking the journey through Lent on
Sunday mornings. We will also discuss other possible observances in
worship, prayer and other disciplines that might happen throughout the
week.
Since the journey has a destination, if not an ending, we will also
focus on how to celebrate Palm Sunday and shape a rhythm of worship
through the other Holy Week services culminating in Easter.

Events for UCC Students

As an In-Care UCC student or upper-level seminarian we would like to
invite you to join us at a workshop entitled: Search and Call:
Preparing Your Profile. This event will focus on the

In-Care and Search Process, Writing a Ministerial Profile to get an
Interview, and

Navigating the UCC Search and Call Network. This is a great opportunity
to ask all those questions you have about the Profile in particular!

This workshop will be held on Monday, January 28th at the Wellesley
(Village) Congregational Church. Coffee, juice, and pastries will be out
by 8:30 AM and we will start the program promptly at 9:00 AM and will
conclude at 12:30 PM. Wellesley (Village) Congregational Church is
located at

2 Central Street (Route 135) Wellesley, MA.

Topics will include: Elements of a Pastoral Call Agreement, UCC Health
and Pension Benefits

* Breakfast goodies will be available by 8:30 AM.

* Leaders will include: Associate Conference Ministers of the
Massachusetts Conference,

UCC as well as representatives of the Pension Boards, and others.
