BGLANTS Worship, March 3rd *** New ***
This Tuesday, March 3, 1pm, Wilson Chapel

Come and rest along this Lenten journey as we reflect in reading, song,
and prayer, on the meaning of this season for us looking toward the
promise of Easter. All are welcome!

BGLANTS, a welcoming student fellowship, is committed to a two-fold
ministry: providing worship opportunities that celebrate the radical
inclusion of all members of God's family; and engaging in dialogue that
inspires and empowers future clergy of all denominations to minister to
all peoples regardless of gender/gender identity or affectional

Movie Night, March 4th
You're Invited!

What: Movie Night featuring "Dogma"
When: Wednesday, March 4, 2009 7:00pm
Where: Appleton-Chase Dorm, Lower Lounge

Please bring snacks or drinks to share! Stay after and let's discuss!

Join fellow students for an informal viewing of the 1999 "theological
comedy" "Dogma" starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris Rock, Alan
Rickman, Salma Hayek, Jay and Silent Bob and more. Two banished angels
find a loophole that could get them back into Heaven, but it will
destroy existence in the process. An unwilling mortal is called upon by
God to intercept the Angels to save the world, aided by the thirteenth
apostle, two unlikely prophets and a former muse. Featured appearances
include a Catholic Cardinal launching a marketing campaign (George
Carlin) and God (Alanis Morrissette)! This comic fantasy also asks some
probing theological questions - come and see!

Social Justice and Pastoral Care Event, March 11th
Our congregations are filled with mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles,
grandmothers and grandfathers. Many of our cherished relationships begin
at birth, yet childbirth is rarely given much thought.

You are invited to raise your awareness of the increasing injustice in
maternal health and how this effects us all, whether or not we are
child-bearers. How do we minister to mothers and families who have
suffered traumatic birth experiences? The first step is learning that
these individuals exist, and likely they are or will be members of our
own congregations.

Speakers will include: Nancy Wainer, author and midwife; Robin Hutson,
from the Massachusetts Friends of Midwives, Sharon Thornton, Andover
Newton Professor of Pastoral Care and Ethics; along with verbal and
visual testimonials of women and men who have endured childbearing pain
and loss.

The Silent Cry of Women: Pastoral Approaches to Childbearing is on March
11th from 9am-12pm in the Wilson Chapel at Andover Newton Theological
School . Light refreshments will be served and RSVPs are greatly
appreciated. Please contact Courtney Stange-Tregear at 617-447-5086 or

Coats, Hats, Mittens Needed!
The Eastern Service Workers Association, one of the places we served in
our fall Community Day, is in need of warm clothing. Each winter they
collect good used or new clothing for low income workers who cannot
afford these items for themselves or their children. Given the current
economic reality and our cold winter this need is greater than ever. So
if you have anything you can donate please bring it by my office,
Worcester 104. Please leave a bag in the box outside my door. Obviously
the items should be clean and in good repair, and of course new things
are also welcome.

Many thanks,
Nancy Nienhuis
