Seeking a part-time DIRECTOR or CO-DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Name and Address of Congregation: Hopedale Unitarian Parish, 65 Hopedale Street, Hopedale, MA 01747

Size on Congregation: 110 adults

Size of Religious Education Program: 60 children and youth

Title: Director or Co-Director of Life Span Religious Education

Time Frame: Part-time position, beginning August 1, 2007

Hours: 10 - 22 hours/ week, 42 weeks/year
If hired for a 10 hour position, it is as co-Director of Religious Education for the 2007-2008 church year
with possibility of becoming the sole DRE at 22 hours/week starting in the 2008-2009 church year.
If hired for 22 hours, the position is Director of Religious Education.

Goal: To provide professional leadership for a life span religions education program for children, youth, and adults

Responsibilities:

-Responsibilities will be scaled depend on the amount of hours the applicant is employed

- Provide leadership for goal setting and developing a philosophy for religious growth and learning

- Develop, plan and coordinate RE curriculum

- Recruit, train, support, and nurture volunteers

- Publicize the religious education program through the newsletter, brochure and other means

- Coordinate special events such as RE Sunday and annual pageant and intergenerational services

- Plan and coordinate Coming of Age program

- Plan and lead monthly children's worship

- Teach in the classroom, as needed

-Attend monthly RE committee meetings

-Create and manage annual RE budget

-Assume role of primary DRE every other Sunday

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Knowledge of Unitarian Universalist

- Knowledge of religious education philosophy

- Experience or degree in religious education

- Ability to work collaboratively with other congregational leaders, staff and volunteers for special programs

- Ability to work closely with co-DRE

- Leadership and organizational skills required

Compensation: $15-$17/hour
