Religious Education Assistant and Youth Group Co-Advisor
September 2007-June 2008

(Each position is 10 hours and can be applied for separately or combined
into one 20 hour position, depending on applicants¹ skills and interests.)

Candidates must be caring, reflective, and motivated individuals who are
genuinely interested in working with UU children, youth, and families.
Excellent listening skills, strong UU spiritual center, and flexibility a
plus.

RE assistant responsibilities:
The assistant provides overall support to the Religious Education Director
and the Children¹s RE Program - nursery through 8th grade- in helping to
maintain programmatic organization needs. Tasks include maintaining
records, teacher and volunteer recruitment, shopping for supplies and
working with children and families on Sunday mornings. The 10 hours include
Sunday mornings (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and at least one part time day during
the week and a monthly evening CRE meeting.

Youth Group co-advisor (candidate must be 25 or older):
A unique opportunity to mentor over 55 UU high school
sophomores, juniors, and seniors and help shape a dynamic program at the
Belmont church. Youth Group meetings are youth-led and supported by a
full-time staff member. The 10 hours include a weekly Sunday evening
meeting, two overnights, occasional community service adventures, and
(flexible) staff planning time. Candidates should be open, fun, and
thoughtful in working with adolescents.
