Youth Programs Coordinator

YOUTH PROGRAMS COORDINATOR

Hours: 15 hours per week, 45 weeks per year (mid August *June)
Compensation: $8,250
Job type/term: Part-Time

The First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Chelmsford, Massachusetts is currently seeking a Youth Programs Director who has experience working with and can work well with junior & senior high school youth and with a team of volunteer youth advisors.
We have a growing and active youth program with 40 junior and senior youth.

SUMMARY:
The Youth Advisor, in conjunction with the Director of Religious Education (DRE) and First Parish volunteers, will oversee the spiritual growth and religious education of the youth (7th-12th grades) of our congregation. S/he will work with the DRE to encourage the further development of Unitarian Universalist values within our youth.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and administratively support the following First Parish Youth programs:
Weekly Sunday morning high school class sessions,
Weekly Sunday morning 7th-8th grade class sessions,
Bi-monthly Our Whole Lives (07-08) or Coming of Age (08-09) evening sessions
Monthly youth group events,
Monthly UU School of Rock youth band rehearsals or performances.
Occasional day-long or weekend youth conferences

QUALIFICATIONS:
Twenty-five years of age or older.
Experience working with youth of junior and senior high school age.
Understands human development and adolescent behavior.
Familiar with the values, principles, and practices of the Unitarian Universalist faith.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to facilitate group activities and excellent team-building skills.
Ability to coordinate and support a team of volunteers.

SUPERVISION
The Youth Programs Coordinator will work with and be supervised by the Director of Religious Education.
