Mission Director
Seafarer's Friend, formerly Boston Seaman's Friend Society, is seeking to find a person of vision and experience in ministry to become the new Mission Director for the port of Boston/Chelsea, Massachusetts. This is an excellent opportunity to grow and lead in a mission-driven, multi-faceted organization that allows both mentoring and ministry as it provides effective ministry to seafarers and the port community. Together with the Executive Director this is a chance to build a new framework for intentional and innovative ministry to both the maritime community and the faith community in New England. The Mission Director in Boston/Chelsea will serve as, director of all operations within the port(s) responsible, as chaplain, and as spiritual guide, seeking to build within staff and volunteers an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality that will encourage participation and engagement with the maritime world. This leader will maintain port operations in a way that strengthens outreach to seafarers, other workers of the port community, and their families in fulfillment of the goals and objectives of Seafarer's Friend as well as increases the number of volunteers regularly involved. We are looking for someone with a passion for reaching people at their point of need, living out the love of Christ in daily life, equipping others for service, making a difference in and for others. Primary tasks will be ensuring chaplaincy services are offered to a majority of seafarers in port, building port community relationships, administration of the center and staff/volunteer operations, and communicating the mission and vision of Seafarer's Friend to a broad constituency
