Children\'s Religious Education Ministry
Arlington Street Church, a progressive, historic and urban Unitarian Universalist congregation in downtown Boston has an immediate opening for a lead teacher to work through at least June 2008. This is a prime opportunity for a divinity student. The time commitment is approximately five hours per week, perhaps less, including at least two hours of onsite work with our children, between 10:30a.m.-12:30p.m. on Sundays, with the balance of the time spent in preparation of the day\'s lesson plans. We have many curricula to choose from and plan to implement the \"Bibleodeon\" curriculum, a comprehensive Unitarian Universalist study of the Bible, geared for 4th-8th graders, beginning in January, 2008.
There are approximatley 12-20 youth in our church school on any given Sunday. They range in age from 7-18, are from diverse backgrounds and some present with special needs. They are a vibrant, engaged and inquisitive group. We have adults and young adults from the congregation who will serve in various capacities to support the lead teacher and the church school program. The lead teacher works under the supervision of Rev. Kim Crawford Harvie. We offer compensation of $300 per month.
