MINISTER OF YOUTH AND FAMILIES

The First Congregational Church of Western Springs, Illinois is looking
for a spiritual leader for young people. Reporting to the Senior
Minister, this Minister will be responsible for developing and leading
the spiritual life of the children, youth and families within the church
and surrounding community.

Our Church was founded in 1887. With 121 years of continuous and
heartfelt worship and service, we enjoy incredibly vibrant youth
programming, from Christian Education to Confirmation, to fellowship
groups for junior high (JRNeys) and high school age children (Plymouth
Fellowship). Our High School Youth Group, Plymouth Fellowship (PF), is
one of the largest UCC youth groups in the country.

Our Minister of Youth and Families should have:

ò Master of Divinity degree; or strong desire and commitment to
attending seminary or other theological training
ò 3-5 years experience working with youth either in a faith-based
organization or educational institution
ò Outstanding relationship building and communication skills
demonstrated by the ability to connect with youth and adults
ò Strong leadership skills û the maturity to appreciate the
strength and tradition of existing programs, along with the vision to
lead change and implement new programs as well
ò The ability to instill Christian values and help youth develop a
relationship with Christ, without feeling like theyÆre being ôpreachedö
to!

This full-time position will carry both salary and benefits (including
relcation) commensurate with the responsibilities as outlined above.

Western Springs, Illinois is a quiet bedroom community of around 12,500
residents located about 17 miles west of Chicago\'s Loop. In November,
2007, BusinessWeek.com listed Western Springs second in a list of the 50
best places to raise children.
