Church Administrator
Job Descripton: The First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain is a
multi-cultural community in the midst of an exciting period of renewal.
Currently, we are seeking an experienced full-time administrator to
support the ongoing work of the church and an ambitious capital

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Create a welcoming and professional atmosphere by receiving and
responding to inquiries by telephone and in person, assist in the
resolution of problems and refer as appropriate.
· Provide general administrative office support including but not
limited to word processing and layout, to prepare a variety of materials
such as weekly bulletin, monthly newsletter, annual reports, database
and web page maintenance, correspondence, and assist with press
releases.
· Provide administrative support for capital campaign consultant and
volunteers: produce materials; assist with coordination of meetings;
attend meetings, if necessary; manage donor database; process pledges
and payments; oversee timely donor acknowledgements; assist with
cultivation events; monitor campaign budget; and prepare financial
reports.
· Serve as executive assistant to Pastor; and provide support for
Treasurer and church leadership.
· Coordinate building use/upkeep, equipment and supplies; schedule
meeting space; maintain activity calendar.
· Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to embrace and affirm the mission of the church.
· Strong administrative and computer skills including word
processing, spreadsheets, donor database system (eTapestry
preferred), bookkeeping system (QuickBooks preferred),
publishing, email and web skills required.
· Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and
organizational skills. Spanish language skills a plus.
· Superior attention to detail, proof-reading skills, and accuracy
working with numbers.
· Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining budget
spreadsheets.
· Ability to balance and prioritize a variety of simultaneous
projects; initiative, flexibility and resourcefulness a must.
· Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, to
ensure the effective and efficient use of staff and volunteer time.
· Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment,
confidentiality, diplomacy and sensitivity to all persons regardless of
faith, economic status, disability, culture, race, age, gender, sexual
orientation and human condition.
· Minimum of two years of administrative experience required.
· Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for campaign
meetings and events.
