Youth and Family Life Pastor
Purpose of Position
The Youth and Family Life Pastor will strengthen and expand the ministries of the church, especially reaching out to and caring for the needs of youth and young families.
Type of Work
The Youth and Family Life Pastor will be a full-time member of the professional pastoral staff of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Medina. He or she will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an integrated program of pastoral care, spiritual guidance, lay leadership development and evangelism, with an emphasis on the needs of youth and young families. The Youth and Family Life Pastor will provide staff support to the Christian Education department, the Youth Program leaders, Evangelism Committee, Mission Board, Gathering Worship Team and various other lay leadership.
Terms of Position
The terms of call are reviewed and evaluated annually and may be renewed annually.
Expectation from the Church
The Youth and Family Life Pastor will support the church in its role as Christians who love the Lord and love and serve one another, the community and the world with joy. He or she will be responsible for developing, training, nurturing and supporting a lay lead team to foster and grow a vibrant Youth Fellowship Ministry. The Youth and Family Life Pastor will establish and grow programs and activities to build and strengthen young family relationships within the church and in our community.
The Youth and Family Life Pastor will be responsible for developing, training, nurturing and supporting the Gathering Worship team in planning, preparing and celebrating weekly and special contemporary and creative worship services. He or she will serve as worship leader for the Gathering service 1 to 2 times per month on average. The Youth and Family Life Pastor will also preach in the Traditional and Joyous Messenger Ministry worship services once per month on average, as well as support youth lead/youth centered worship.
The Youth and Family Life Pastor will establish and develop programs and activities of Evangelism and Outreach in our community. He or she will also be responsible for developing, training, nurturing and supporting a lay lead team to facilitate direct service mission opportunities within the church, in our community and around the world.
The Youth and Family Life Pastor will provide pastoral services, including but not limited to calling and caring, counseling, weddings and funerals as requested.
Accountability
The Youth and Family Life Pastor is accountable to the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee, both accountable to the Cabinet. Evaluation of his or her performance will be the responsibility of the Personnel Committee, in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
