Youth Program Coordinator

Job Title: Youth Program Coordinator
Job Descripton: Position Title:Youth Program Coordinator
Time Frame: 20 hours/week, including Sunday
Responsibilities:
a.Provide oversight, leadership, development, and support for programs for youth in grades 7-12 including:
---Coming of Age
---Middle School OWL (teen sexuality education program)
---Youth Group
---Sunday morning teen classes

b. With the DRE and the Religious Education Committee develop programs to support specific teen and parenting needs.
c. Focus on and oversee the involvement and integration of youth within the congregation.
d. Assist with organizing and executing volunteer recruitment efforts for youth programs.
e. Work with the DRE and Minister to appropriately address youth issues of individual or family crisis.
f. Contribute to development and enhancement of Religious Education philosophy of religious growth and learning among teens.
g. With the assistance of the DRE, ensure all youth advisors and adult volunteers gain an understanding of UUCW Safe Congregation Policies and Procedures.
h. Participate in appropriate district and area conference workshops, join appropriate UUA and district e-mail list serves, and join LREDA as requested and/or needed.
i. Attend meetings of the Religious Education Committee.
j. Ensure necessary administrative forms are completed and that youth records are secure and confidential.
k. Advocate for and publicize youth religious education programming through the newsletter and other means of communications.
l. With the DRE and REC plan special and intergenerational events.

Requirements, Knowledge, skills and abilities:
-- Minimum age 25
-- Initiative, energy, enthusiasm
-- Superior interpersonal skills with youth, parents, and adults
--- Ability to encourage and motivate others
-- Strong communication skills with youth in particular
-- Affinity with and knowledge of UU principles
-- Ability to celebrate diverse religious beliefs
-- Skills in managing volunteers
