Program Coordinator for Identity-Based Ministries
Job Descripton: Staff Group: Identity-Based Ministries (Id-BM)
Reports To: Director of Identity-Based Ministries
Location: Boston, Massachusetts (on site)
FLSA: Exempt
Grade: 10, full-time
Basic Purpose: 1) To coordinate administrative support and
communications for Identity-Based Ministries and its program areas,
including Accessibility Concerns; Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and
Transgender (BGLT) Concerns; and, Racial and Ethnic Concerns; and, 2) to
serve as primary contact for providing customer service with regard to
advocacy, education, and support for accessibility, BGLT and racial and
ethnic concerns issues.
Principle Responsibilities
Id-BM
1. Provide administrative support to the Id-BM Director in working
with volunteer leadership, meeting planning and coordination, and
general communication.
2. Serve as primary contact person for the Id-BM staff group (via
e-mail, postal mail, telephone, and walk-ins); first line of contact for
advocacy, education, and support issues for accessibility concerns, BGLT
concerns, and racial and ethnic concerns.
3. Provide a pastoral presence to Id-BM constituents, including
allies; this includes having a growing understanding and knowledge of
various identity and anti-oppression issues related to
disability/accessibility, sexual orientation and gender identity, and
race and ethnicity, and cultural competence.
4. Coordinate the internal administrative functions of the Id-BM
staff group, providing support to program staff.
5. Assist in the maintenance of Id-BM budget lines, files, and
project deadlines in collaboration with the Washington Office
Administrator.
6. Serve as information source, resource person, and supportive
denominational presence for Id-BM constituents and their allies within
and outside the UU community.
7. Coordinate General Assembly (GA) booth display and provide
support for other tasks related to GA.
8. Serve as Id-BM Content Management System (CMS) author;
maintain and create new web pages for all Id-BM program areas.
9. Coordinate data needs, i.e. data tracking and entry in Raiser's
Edge.
10. Supervise the Id-BM Administrative Assistant.
Office of Accessibility Concerns
11. Coordinate the production and distribution of the UU World on
tape.
12. Coordinate the loan of the Assistive Listening System Demo Kit
to congregations throughout the church year.
13. Provide support to Equual Access, including answer questions
about UUA policy, reserve lodging. Other project support includes UU
Pocket Guide in Braille and compiling a list of recipients, and other
desired projects.
Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Concerns
14. Administer the Welcoming Congregation, Living the Welcoming
Congregation, and Beyond Categorical Thinking Programs and provide
consultation to congregations.
15. Provide support to BGLT constituents and allies doing BGLT work,
including offering pastoral support, consultation, and referrals to BGLT
law, family, political, and speaking organizations.
16. Monitor designated email lists on behalf of OBGLTC.
Office of Racial and Ethnic Concerns
17. Provides administrative tasks such as editing and printing or
brochures, website work, answering email requests for videos, and some
financial records.
JTWTC
18. Serve as the primary administrative staff for the Journey Toward
Wholeness Transformation Committee (JTWTC): provide direct support to
the Director of Id-BM as the President's Representative to the JTWTC,
coordinate three business meetings and other events, facilitate
communication among the Committee, maintain budget line and process
financial documents, maintain Committee Minutes, edit reports and other
documents, collaboratively create meeting agendas, coordinate and
administer mailings, and provide additional support as requested by the
co-chairs.
Other
19. Fulfill additional related duties as requested by Director of
Id-BM, staff group members, the Executive Vice President or President.
This is an exempt Grade 10 position (entry $38,500; midpoint $48,000).
The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service orientation,
proficiency in MS Windows and in the programs contained within the
Microsoft Office Suite, web browsing, Raiser's Edge ideally, general
office procedures, and meeting planning. In addition the candidate will
have an understanding of Unitarian Universalism and how Unitarian
Universalist congregations work. Grounding in anti-oppression work,
primarily in the areas of accessibility/disability, BGLT issues, class,
and racial and ethnic concerns is a plus.
