Director of Christian Education

Job Descripton: SANDWICH, The First Church of Christ, United Church of
Christ is seeking an energetic and imaginative person of faith to serve
as our Director of Christian Education.

We have a dynamic and growing Sunday School program with 100-120
children and youth. Our Youth Ministry includes Middle School (4th-6th
grades), Junior High School (7th-8th grades) and High School youth
(9th-12th grades). This position will require someone with good
organizational and communication skills who can work effectively with
volunteers.

This position entails oversight of the Church School program, in
conjunction with a 10 hr/wk Church School Superintendent.
Responsibilities also include:
- Coordinating our youth ministry programming including organization of
the Middle and Junior High youth groups, planning and support for Senior
High youth & confirmation programs, summer time Vacation Bible School
- Family and adult educational opportunities
- Directing special worship/fellowship events for families and
children
- Organizing camping ministries
- Planning for intergenerational mission trips
- Coordinating a weekly Children's Message in adult worship services

This person will work closely with the Associate Pastor, and will
benefit from a supportive leadership team committed to offering superior
Christian Education programs.

A Bachelor's degree with a focus in Education is preferred, though
other relevant experience and formal training will be considered. This
is a 30 hr/wk, salaried position. Two weeks paid vacation are included.
