Director of Ministerial Services
Job Descripton: Function:
The DMS must be a leader who is mission-driven and is committed to
making a difference in the lives of those served by the organization.
This individual must be capable of enthusiastically promoting the
mission and Christian principles of Volunteers of America and to
formalize our ministerial services to clients and staff.
Qualifications:
Formal education in chaplain services, religious and/or theological
studies. Experience in community missions or non-profit experience.
This person will have knowledge of the ecumenical church and inter-faith
exposure. He/she must have demonstrated skills in pastoral care and
collaborative working relationships among people of differing faith
backgrounds.
Principle Duties and Activities:
Ensuring the opportunity for all clients to worship and receive
spiritual support.
●The DMS will assist and oversee the initiation and establishment of
new and existing spiritual programming for Volunteers of America
clients.
●The DMS will cultivate communication and networking within the
staffing culture of the organization.
Invite the broader faith community into our mission through volunteers,
networks and collaboration to serve our clients and staff.
●The DMS may serve as a resource in collaborations between outside
programs and VOA activities or within community activities falling
within our programs.
●The DMS will act as a liaison with local churches and the broader
faith community in order to develop programmatic spiritual elements and
establish a relationship between the Volunteers of America residents and
staff and the local faith community.
Enroll all organizational key leaders in planning, conceptualizing and
faith fellowship.
●The DMS will organize and implement spiritual programming for
quarterly staffing meetings and Board meetings.
●The DMS will work with and ensure that an opportunity for spiritual
development is present at each program location and that directors are
knowledgeable and engaged in the approaches and outcomes intended.
●The DMS will be prepared to represent Volunteers of America in
outside faith organizational meetings and association gatherings.
●The DMS will be a resource to provide reference materials for all
activities and functions of the organization's presentations, meetings
and program routine.
Effect on end results:
●VOA has an effective Ministry Plan in place and monitored for each
program
●VOA's mission, Christian identity and ministerial services are
represented in the wider community in a positive manner
●Residents and staff are offered opportunities to worship within the
program structure and practice their faith in a meaningful way on a
regular basis
