Job Title: Interim Director of Religious Education
Job Descripton: First Parish Church of Groton, MA Unitarian
Universalist, seeks an experienced, part-time (15-20 hours per week)
Interim Director of Religious Education. The Interim DRE will provide
leadership for the congregation's Religious Education Programs for
children and youth for the 2009/2010-church year. This is an 11 month
position (August 2009 through June 2010).
First Parish Church of Groton is a busy, mid-sized congregation with an
adult membership of 230 adults, 70-75 children registered in church
school, approximately 20 youth attending youth programs, and 40
religious education volunteers. Our programs for children and youth
include nursery care, Sunday morning church school classes, Sunday
evening youth group, Sunday morning youth discussion group, and Coming
of Age (our version of a Confirmation or Bar Mitzvah program).
Duties of the Interim DRE will include:
● Collaborate with the Religious Education Committee (REC) in the
coordination and oversight of the Sunday morning church school and
childcare programs.
● Support youth programming in collaboration with the Youth
Ministry Team (YMT), Youth Advisors, and Coming of Age Team.
● Provide training, resources, guidance and support for all
religious education volunteers.
● In collaboration with REC and YMT, welcome new and returning
families and orient them to the RE programs.
● Organize and oversee special Sunday programming for children
ages 4 through 12 on Sundays when church school is out of session.
● Be present on most Sunday mornings.
● Attend regular meetings of the Religious Education Committee and
Youth Ministry Team.
We seek someone with excellent communication and time management
skills, experience with program administration and volunteer management,
and a background in education.
