Overview:
Oversight and coordination of existing diversity initiatives
including:
· Students Teaching and Advocating Respect (STARs)
· Minority Students Achievement Network (MSAN)
· Project 10 East (Gay/Straight Alliance)
· Man to Man / Woman to Woman (career exploration)
· Various cultural identity student clubs
In addition, the Student Diversity Programs Specialist will:
· Conceptualize and develop new diversity initiatives as
needed, including activities or homerooms, assemblies, and after-school
programming
· Provide Curriculum development and consultation support
· Provide direct student support through advising and
consultation, liaison and referral to existing student services, and
development of new services as needs are identified
· Serve as Diversity Ombudsman / point person school wide for
Deans, Guidance Department, and teachers, and in the community
· Act as point person for students interested in developing
responses to diversity concerns and for initiating diversity
programming
· Coordinate school calendar of diversity events
Qualification:
College degree. Previous experience with diverse populations in an
urban high school setting required. Interest and experience in areas of
social justice, diversity, anti-bias education, community-based
education and activities.
