Minister - Unitarian-Universalist Church

Minister - Unitarian-Universalist Church

Northfield, Massachusetts is a quintessential New England village with 3000 residents on the New Hampshire and Vermont border. It has been described as a 19th century village with a wide main street and stately homes. The First Parish Unitarian Church is a lovely Victorian building from 1871 that sits squarely in the center of town. We are a small but energetic congregation with about 50 parishioners. The First Parish Church is looking for a quarter time minister working 12 hours a week. In the past, this position has been held by individuals who served other country parishes part time. Specifically, we are looking for someone to provide spiritual and community leadership for our church and to be seen as "our minister", despite his or her part-time status. Specific roles and responsibilities of the minister include pastoral care and preaching at least one sermon each month

Associate Minister Search

Associate Minister Search

The First Parish Church in Weston is seeking a second minister to fill
the role of Associate Minister. The title is Associate Minister, rather
than Assistant Minister or Minister of some specialty, because the
parish anticipates hiring an experienced individual who can not only
focus on and succeed in designated areas of responsibility, but can
fully complement the work of our Senior Minister. We seek a minister who
has the interest, skills, and availability to sustain parishioners who
seek this minister's spiritual insights or pastoral care.

While the First Parish seeks a minister with a full range of
ministerial skills, we expect our second minister to focus primarily on
our children and youth, and secondarily upon our social justice and
outreach programs. The Church School is a critically important part of
our parish and with the help of our Director of Religious Education, and
many dedicated parent volunteers, we have created and sustained a
vigorous and successful church school program. We need to extend that
success to create an equally strong Youth Ministry program. We therefore
seek a minister with direct hands-on experience with both a church
school and a youth ministry, who can draw upon that experience to
inspire our DRE and youth to build a more supportive community for our
teenagers.

First Parish has an active and wide ranging outreach program that we
hope will be enhanced by the passion of our second minister. Similarly,
we have a large number of parishioners energized and committed to social
justice issues. We seek a minister who has direct proactive social
justice experience to help harness and direct that energy. As a natural
extension of these focus areas, we will encourage our second minister to
be a visible presence in our community, involved and present at
activities that support his/her role with our youth and adults.
