Sunday School Teacher
A paid Sunday School Teacher is needed for a bright, energetic small group of pre-K*elementary-school age children at Old Cambridge Baptist Church (OCBC), a progressive and inclusive Christian community in the American Baptist tradition, located in Harvard Square, Cambridge. This position is available from mid-May 2007. (We are also looking for a second teacher to begin in September 2007; contact James Armstrong at the e-mail address below for more information about that position.)
OCBC is deeply involved in ministries related to social justice, the spiritual life, and the arts. We are a small, diverse and welcoming community actively advocating for the civil and ecclesiastical rights of all God's people, regardless of race, gender, sexual or affectional orientation. Our children are bright and loving, and will bless whomever works with them. We are using a well-designed Bible focused multi-age curriculum that has good leader's materials.
The position will be supervised by the chair of the Christian Education Committee. An expanded position can qualify for the Harvard Divinity School Field Experience Program, and, if applicable, would be jointly supervised by OCBC's pastor, Rev. Irv Cummings, a certified Harvard Field Education Instructor.
