Full Time Youth Minister for Church with a very active youth ministry
Director of Youth Ministries
Looking for the next chapter in your spiritual journey? Our youth are.
Here's what some of them said: "Youth group is a place where I can talk about challenges in my life." "It feels like a huge family." "Youth group adds life to my life." "I am more aware of our spiritual connection and how it is both serious and fun." "It unites so many different people and brings everyone together to have fun and help others." "Everyone who attends, cares." "Every time I go, I know there's someone there I'm friends with."
If you love connecting with teens, sharing your faith authentically, grabbing a grande mocha malt frappuccino, leading summer trips to Navajoland, playing Xbox, starting group discussions on important life decisions, watching high school sports, spending the weekend on a Jr. High retreat, then read on.
About Us
Saint Luke's is an Episcopal church is a vibrant parish of over 900 families that recently celebrated its 150th year. We are located in Darien, CT, a suburban coastal town of 20,000 people about 40 miles outside of New York City. On Sundays we average 450 worshippers across 4 services. We are deeply committed to our energetic and growing Youth Programs, and are excited about the life of our youth.
Through our Youth Programs, we put a great deal of importance on building a relational ministry. We foster a community that is safe for our teens to be themselves, to build friendships and to connect with our Youth Director and supporting Adult Sponsors. Our programs also emphasize living into our Parish Vision, especially through various outreach projects from making cookies for elderly parishioners to traveling each summer to Lewiston, Maine and to the Navajo Reservation in Bluff, Utah to do work projects and share our faith.
We also want our students to have a lot of fun. Many teens in Darien are "overprogrammed" with activities, school work and other commitments. We hope to provide a place where they can enjoy each other, play games, participate in social activities, hang out and be teens.
We desire to develop a more integrated faith building component to our Programs, especially with our Senior High youth, so they can connect their faith with their daily lives. Again, our hope is to build on our Vision Statement.
Saint Luke's Vision Statement
Living as disciples of Christ, we will:
Grow personally in faith,
acknowledging our imperfection and need of grace;
Build an accepting and transforming community,
extending God's unconditional welcome to all;
Work alongside our neighbors,
Forming partnerships to serve the world.
