Sunday School/Youth Coordinator

I am pastor of a small American Baptist parish in Danville, VT.
We are looking for a student who might be interested in a weekend salaried job, plus travel, overnight and meal accommodations as Sunday School/Youth Coordinator.

Youth Minister

Job Title: Youth Minister
Job Descripton: part-time position (12-15 hours per week, for 10
months) of Youth Minister. UPA is an Open and Affirming and Reconciling
congregation..
● The desired person will be responsible for the Christian
Education of the active middle school and high school aged youth of the
church. This will include at least two youth group meetings each month,
and the planning and leading of a yearly socially and/or environmentally
consciousness raising weekend retreat (Current youth group meetings are
11:30-1 on Sunday)
● The Youth Minister will assist the pastor with the Confirmation
Class.

presenting children's sermons during the weekly worship services.
● The Youth Minister will also work closely with the Board of
Christian Education assisting them with the administration of the

RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to embrace and affirm the mission of the church.
· Strong administrative and computer skills including word
processing, spreadsheets, donor database system (eTapestry
preferred), bookkeeping system (QuickBooks preferred),
publishing, email and web skills required.
· Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and
organizational skills. Spanish language skills a plus.
· Superior attention to detail, proof-reading skills, and accuracy
working with numbers.
· Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining budget
spreadsheets.
· Ability to balance and prioritize a variety of simultaneous
projects; initiative, flexibility and resourcefulness a must.
· Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, to
ensure the effective and efficient use of staff and volunteer time.
· Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment,
confidentiality, diplomacy and sensitivity to all persons regardless of
faith, economic status, disability, culture, race, age, gender, sexual
orientation and human condition.
· Minimum of two years of administrative experience required.

nights of "Teen Crib" per week for 8 weeks and 2-3 outings. During
the school year, there are also occasional overnights and special
trips.

The director and associate director will provide the primary staffing
for these programs, supported by volunteers in some cases, and part-time
staff in others. While particular leadership roles are flexible, it is
understood that the associate director will have a primary role in
Sunday Christian education and related special gatherings. The
associate director is also expected to staff two weekday programs, most
likely one for youth and one for children.

After-school programming stops during the summer, but Teen Crib and
Summer Meals Program operate. It is expected that the associate
director will have a presence with these programs, and hoped that s/he
will join the summer staff (for extra compensation).

Salary for 10-11 hours a week- $5000-7000 the first year (depending on
experience).
Raise of 10-15% for the second year.
Four weeks of vacation.

Basic Purpose: To bring effective leadership to the mission of the
office to support youth and young adult ministries in congregations,
districts, and campuses.

Mission: To open the doors of Unitarian Universalism to welcome youth
and young adults fully, building multigenerational faith communities
that are spiritually alive, radically inclusive, and justice-centered.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Develops policies and sets priorities that further the mission of
youth and young adult ministries, including a critical role in the areas
of:
● Leadership development, including spirituality, service, and
social justice opportunities;
● Ministry to and with youth and young adults of color,
Latino/Latina/Hispanic youth and young adults, and bisexual, gay,
lesbian, transgender, intersexual, queer and questioning youth and young
adults;
● Identity development;
● Anti-racism, anti-oppression, multicultural training and
education;
● Support of young adult religious professionals and those working
with young adults;
● Support for youth workers and the professionalization of youth
workers;
● Addressing safety and ethics issues within youth and young adult
ministries.

2. Supervises staff, including the directors, managers, and office
administrator.
3. Manages budget and grants.
4. Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor or, in
his/her absence, the Treasurer, the Executive Vice President, or the
President.
This is an exempt Grade 13 position (entry $51,800; midpoint $66,200).
Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of Unitarian Universalism
and be able to demonstrate exceptional organizational, advocacy, and
communication skills in this fast-paced office of young adults.
Experience with youth and young adult ministries is important as is a
record of experience involving
antiracism/antioppression/multiculturalism lenses. The successful
candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a demonstrated
ability lead a large team and manage a significant budget. Excellent
writing and public speaking skills are expected. Some travel is
required.

Youth Leader
