UU Youth Advisor

Wanted: UU Youth Advisor to become part of our Senior High Youth Program (SHYP). SHYP is an established, active, vibrant youth-led program at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading.

We seek someone who:
Has experience with High School youth
Understands and values UU principles
Will facilitate Sunday evening meetings for Senior High youth, participate in
overnights and conferences, and attend Youth Adult Committee meetings
Is comfortable letting the youth lead, while knowing when to provide guidance
Will continue to promote youth presence in the congregation
Is interested in social justice and current events
Enjoys working collaboratively with fellow staff & adult volunteers
Wants to work in a healthy, creative, supportive and fun environment

The position is for 30 hours per month, which includes planning and participating
in youth meetings/activities as outlined above.

Youth Program Coordinator

Job Title: Youth Program Coordinator
Job Descripton: Position Title:Youth Program Coordinator
Time Frame: 20 hours/week, including Sunday
Responsibilities:
a.Provide oversight, leadership, development, and support for programs for youth in grades 7-12 including:
---Coming of Age
---Middle School OWL (teen sexuality education program)
---Youth Group
---Sunday morning teen classes

b. With the DRE and the Religious Education Committee develop programs to support specific teen and parenting needs.
c. Focus on and oversee the involvement and integration of youth within the congregation.
d. Assist with organizing and executing volunteer recruitment efforts for youth programs.
e. Work with the DRE and Minister to appropriately address youth issues of individual or family crisis.
f. Contribute to development and enhancement of Religious Education philosophy of religious growth and learning among teens.
g. With the assistance of the DRE, ensure all youth advisors and adult volunteers gain an understanding of UUCW Safe Congregation Policies and Procedures.
h. Participate in appropriate district and area conference workshops, join appropriate UUA and district e-mail list serves, and join LREDA as requested and/or needed.
i. Attend meetings of the Religious Education Committee.
j. Ensure necessary administrative forms are completed and that youth records are secure and confidential.
k. Advocate for and publicize youth religious education programming through the newsletter and other means of communications.
l. With the DRE and REC plan special and intergenerational events.

Associate University Chaplain and Protestant Campus Minister

Position Title: Associate University Chaplain and Protestant Campus Minister

Job Description: The Protestant Campus Minister coordinates Protestant life on campus, including serving as pastor of University Church (the ecumenical Christian worshiping community on campus), collaborating and advising various campus Protestant Christian groups and supporting the spiritual and religious needs of the broader University community. The ministry of the chaplain will include conducting services, preaching, and organizing the various ministries within University Church and the Protestant Community as a whole.

Essential Functions: The Protestant Campus Minister will also work within Colgate's Office of the Chaplains, which is committed to offering leadership, personal assistance and advocacy for all of the university's religious communities. Currently the Protestant Campus Minister advises the Muslim Student Association and several other chaplaincy organizations and it is possible that the new chaplain will be expected to support multiple religious groups as well. The Protestant Campus Minister will work closely with both the Catholic and Jewish Chaplains to support religious and spiritual life on campus. The Protestant Campus Minister will report directly to the University Chaplain, a role currently held by the Catholic Chaplain. The Chaplaincy is part of the Dean of the College Division and candidates should be prepared to support the implementation of the educational vision of the college.

Qualifications:
(Education and Experience) Required: M.Div. or comparable degree, denominationally recognized ordination, and pastoral experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Desirable: Experience in an ecumenical campus ministry setting.

The ideal candidate should be energetic and enthusiastic about working with students and staff from a wide-variety of religious backgrounds, and should be comfortable supporting the faith and practice of a diverse community. She/he should have strong oral, public and written communication skills; strong counseling skills; demonstrated commitment to and skill in fostering community and collaboration among diverse constituencies; administrative skills and strategic planning experience in an ecumenical context are preferred.

Director of Christian Education

Job Title: Director of Christian Education
Job Descripton: The First Congregational Church of Milford is seeking a part time Director of Christian Education to provide leadership, guidance and resources including curriculum recommendations for all aspects of Religious Education within the church.
The Candidate should be an enthusiastic person of faith with a love of working with children of all ages (Pre-K to High School) along with adults. This person will work as a part of a team, led by the Minister and serve as a liaison between the administrative aspects of the church and the Religious Ed. Committee.
Responsibilities include selecting and ordering curriculum (with th Minister and RE approval) for all Sunday School Programs, recruiting and training teachers, along with developing and implementing programs for the church's education and enrichment. (Summer Programs, Youth Sunday Services, Adult Ed. Classes.)
A degree in Education and a Certification in Christian Education are preferred. This is a salaried position of approximately 20 hours per week.

American Chinese Christian Educational and Social Services is a non-profit, non-denominational community agency serving Chinese immigrant families in Boston. Our adult ESOL program holds classes Monday through Friday mornings in Chinatown, 5 minutes from the New England Medical Center. This paid teaching position is 12 hours a week. Some prior teaching experience is preferred, although not specifically in language teaching.

We are currently hiring for a Program Coordinator for our Adult ESOL
program.

Required: Bachelor's or higher degree in ESOL, Teaching, English
Language, or related field; two years of language teaching experience;
support of agency's mission and policies
Preferred: Master's degree in ESOL or related field; supervisory
experience; teaching experience in ESOL among low-income urban Asian
populations
Hours: presently 27 hours a week with a potential of developing into
a full-time position with an additional class
Salary: presently $28-32K annually; $35-39K if full-time
Benefits: 75% medical insurance; 3 weeks vacation annually, 12
holidays; sick and personal leave time
Note: A full-time position can be made presently when combined with
teaching in our Enrichment Program for children K2-5th Grade.
