Job Descripton: The Theodore Parker Unitarian Universalist Church in West Roxbury is seeking a director for its adult choir. We anticipate that the position will require about 8 hours per week during the regular church year (early September to mid June). The choir director leads hour-long rehearsals on Sunday mornings, conducts performances by the choir, and plays a central role in the planning of music for church services in consultation with the minister.

Andover Newton Coordinator of Student Housing and Campus Facilities

Reports to: Reports to the Dean of Students and Community Life
Scope of Work: The Coordinator of Student Housing administers all aspects of student housing according to Andover Newton’s student housing policy. She/he will also manage outside facilities requests, and coordinate room reservations in the residence halls and the use of campus guest rooms.

Responsibilities:

Student Housing:
  • Oversee all aspects of assigning Andover Newton’s student housing units to appropriately qualified students
  • Initiate appropriate application and contractual agreements with students
  • Develop and communicate to students effective and timely information regarding any changes in the housing policy or any other necessary information regarding student housing
  • In consultation with the Dean of Students as necessary, interpret the housing policy to students, staff, and faculty
  • In consultation with the Dean of Students and Resident Representatives, review and make changes to the housing policy in accordance with established procedures for making changes
  • In cooperation with Building and Grounds, inspect all rooms after students vacate them and make appropriate recommendations to B&G personnel
  • In consultation with the Dean of Students and the business office, review and establish rental rates for student housing
  • In cooperation with the Registrar and Student Billing Office maintain CARS Housing module to ensure proper billing of housing and meal plans.
  • Work with Resident Representatives to inspect student housing units with each student resident prior to his/her moving in, noting any deficiencies or concerns that need to be addressed prior to move-in.
  • Maintain relationships with administrators at the schools of the Boston Theological Institute and Hebrew College to fill empty spaces in student housing and ensure that non-Andover Newton students living in housing are students in an approved school.

  • Schedule and oversee use of three campus guest rooms and the student worker who cleans the rooms.

Campus Facilities
  • Oversee all aspects of reserving all function space except the President’s House

  • Manage accounts and contracts for long term renters (Prozdor, B’nai Or, Or Yisrael)
  • In coordination with Buildings and Grounds and Food Service maintain EMS Reservation System
  • Develop and communicate to students, staff, and faculty effective and timely information regarding any changes in the use of space policy or any other necessary information regarding use of campus facilities
  • In consultation with the Dean of Students and the business office, review and establish rental rates for campus facilities
  • Manage student workers and schedule custodians with Buildings and Grounds to ensure proper coverage for both internal and external events.
  • Maintain campus facilities sections of www.ants.edu
Mailroom
  • Hire and oversee three student workers for the mailroom
  • Maintain listing of campus box assignments, ensuring that all offices have an up to date list of assignments.
  • Ensure that the mailroom and all campus offices have forwarding addresses for students moving off campus
Other Responsibilities:
  • Work with appropriate committees and offices as assigned or as needed
  • Attend all Commencement Committee meetings; manage contracts with outside vendors for Commencement related events
  • Provide other administrative assistance to the Dean as needed and as time permits
Qualifications:
  • B.A. or similar degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of “church culture”
  • Strong interpersonal and administrative skills, with a particular strength in customer service
  • Demonstrated computer skills including PC/business applications such as Word and Excel databases

Scope of Work: Responsible for ensuring the quality of all campus visits and providing operational support to the Office of Recruitment and Admission.

Responsibilities:
  • Greets campus visitors, answers questions, and serves as liaison between campus visitors and the Office of Recruitment and Admission, the Office of Institutional Advancement, the Business Office and the President’s Office.
  • Responds promptly to phone and email inquiries. Directs phone calls to appropriate administrative offices.

  • Tracks all merit-based scholarships and coordinates with financial aid office on the awarding and communication of awards.
  • Coordinates departmental tasks such as production of mailings, copies, ordering and maintaining office supplies, and maintenance of budget records.

Qualifications:

Outstanding interpersonal skills. Capacity to handle confidential materials with discretion and sensitivity. Strong communication and receptionist skills. Must be able to handle difficult phone calls with tact and diplomacy. Enjoys meeting new people and has an ability to make them feel comfortable. Ability to work under pressure. Excellent organization and problem-solving skills. Ability to exercise initiative, set priorities, and work independently. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Data entry experience a plus, but not required. Willingness to learn college-wide computer network system. Sense of humor.

Job Descripton: This part-time position (10 hours per week) focuses on the religious education for children, their spiritual development and safety. An understanding of, and respect for, the faith and inclusive values of our church community are of critical importance, as are team work and collegiality.

Skills Needed:
The position requires a self-starter and a self-checker with skills in theology, education, the planning of children's activities, development of volunteer staff and the ability to relate to a busy congregation. An ability to communicate well and work respectfully together with other members of the team, staff, congregation and building users is essential. Familiarity with Godly Play is a plus.

Review and Reporting:
The Sunday School Superintendent (SSS) is hired and employed by the Church Council. The SSS is responsible to the Pastor for routine administrative tasks, and the SSS is responsible programmatically to the Christian Education Committee. An annual performance review will include input from other staff, the congregation, and committees. Guidance, especially during the start-up phase, will be provided by a liaison from the Christian Education Committee.

Nature of the Position and Employment Conditions
The nature of this position is temporary, to enable the congregation to determine the future direction of the staffing of its CE program. The intent is to hire a Sunday School Superintendent in the present position for the period of one year, starting August 20, 2008. The incumbent will be eligible to apply for any permanent position that may be established as a result of the discernment process. Hiring and employment conditions will be governed by the Church of the Covenant Personnel Policy. The compensation will be in the range $10,000 to $13,000 per annum. This position is not eligible for benefits. Hiring will be contingent upon a satisfactory CORI evaluation.

Basic Purpose: The administrator performs all basic administrative
duties for the Office of Congregational Stewardship Services.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Perform administrative duties, including typing, correspondence,
filing, answering phones, etc. for the Office of Congregational
Stewardship Services.
2. Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal (UUA
staff and stewardship consultants) and external (congregations)
constituents.
3. Create contracts for stewardship consultants' work with
congregations, verify accuracy with the Program Manager, and send copies
to the congregation and the appropriate consultant. Assure that signed
contracts are returned before the start of any consultation.
4. Process consultants' time sheets and travel and expense forms
in a timely manner.
5. Create and send invoices to congregations for consulting services
rendered.
6. Receive congregational payments and deposit to appropriate
accounts. As needed, contact congregations to ensure timely payment of
consulting services' invoices.
7. Compile Congregational Stewardship Services monthly financial
data and generate financial reports each month.
8. Provide monthly reclassification report to the Finance staff
group.
9. Compile annual financial data and create PowerPoint slide show.
10. Provide logistical support for the Program Manager, the
Director, and the Congregational Properties and Loan Commission,
including making room reservations, arranging food orders, and making
travel arrangements when requested.
11. Provide administrative support in preparation for General
Assembly, the annual consultants' retreat, and quarterly meetings of
the Congregational Properties and Loan Commission.
12. Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor or, in
his/her absence, by the Director of Congregational Stewardship Services,
the Director of Congregational Services, the Treasurer, the Executive
Vice President, or the President.

This is an exempt Grade 8 position (entry $17,771; midpoint $21,886).
The ideal candidate works independently and must have excellent
organizational skills and a customer service orientation, proficiency in
MS Windows and in the programs contained within the Microsoft Office
Suite (especially Excel), knowledge of general office procedures and
meeting planning.

14. Administer the Welcoming Congregation, Living the Welcoming
Congregation, and Beyond Categorical Thinking Programs and provide
consultation to congregations.
15. Provide support to BGLT constituents and allies doing BGLT work,
including offering pastoral support, consultation, and referrals to BGLT
law, family, political, and speaking organizations.
16. Monitor designated email lists on behalf of OBGLTC.

The Director of Christian Education at Wollaston Congregational Church
UCC will work with the pastor and the congregation to grow and maintain
a Religious Education program. Although the main focus of this position

The CE Director's duties will include:

Recruit and train new Sunday school teachers
Based on the Rotation Model Curriculum, will schedule Sunday school

Work with Minister of Music to develop the children's music ministry

Assist in duties of Sunday School Superintendent, such as:

This person will be responsible for children and youth participation in
church life; and will assist with children's wider community events
planning. This person must have excellent organizational and
communication skills and the ability to work within a multi-staffed
church.

Duties of this position may be subject to change at the discretion of
the Pastor in consultation with the Christian Education Team and the
Church Council.

The Director of Christian Education will work 15 hour per week

Basic Purpose: To provide faith development curricula and other
resources for adults of all ages in Unitarian Universalist (UU)
congregations and certain other UU communities.

Principal Responsibilities

1. In consultation with the LFD Director, oversees development and
developmental editing of Tapestry of Faith curricula and other resources
for faith development programming for adults of all ages in
congregations and certain other UU communities. "Adults of all
ages" specifically includes young adults, middle-age adults, and
elder adults.

2. As part of the Tapestry of Faith team, helps develop Tapestry of
Faith vision, multigenerational resources, publicity and communication
materials for the website and other media.

3. Serves as a consultant for Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for
Adults and Our Whole Lives: Sexuality for Young Adults. In consultation
with LFD Director, answers queries, oversees revisions, and coordinates
the training of trainers for these programs.

4. Oversees appropriate Internet lists and web pages.

5. Serves as consultant for adult faith development programming to
congregations, districts, and the UUA at large, offering consultation in
adult learning theory, program content, and the mechanics of successful
program implementation.

6. Works as a team member of LFD to provide lifespan faith development
resources through a variety of delivery systems including electronic and
print media, and speaking, workshop, and training formats.

7. Collaborates with the Publications Office and the Office of
Electronic Communications to publish, revise and reprint materials.

8. Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor or, in her/his
absence, the Treasurer, Executive Vice President, or President.

This is an exempt Grade 13 position (entry $51,800; midpoint $66,200).
UU minister, preferred. Master's degree or equivalent experience
necessary. Solid background in UU theology and practice, as well as
strong writing and editing skills required. Offsite candidates must be
able to travel to Boston on a monthly basis. Other travel (i.e., LREDA
fall conference and General Assembly) required. The successful
candidate will be proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
