Young Adult Ministries Office

Grade: 11, full-time

Basic Purpose: Provide support to youth and young adults of color
within Unitarian Universalism and advocate for support and
accountability throughout the UUA through networking, advocacy,
organizing, programmatic initiatives, and pastoral support.

1. Programmatic responsibilities
● Advocates for and supports ministry needs of Youth and Young
Adults of Color (YaYAOC): Connects with Associational, district,
regional and congregational staff; connects with DRUUMM, other POC
organizations, ARE and with Multiracial and Multiethnic families
programs.
● Works to integrate YaYAOC ministry into all programs and
services of the Youth Office/Young Adult Office.
● Organizes continental and regional network, program, and support
opportunities for YaYAOC, including identity development and
anti-racism/anti-oppression/multiculturalism education
● Attends YaYAOC events, including DRUUMM YaYA Steering Committee
meetings and events in advisor, advocacy, and/or observer role as
appropriate.
● Assists with leadership development, tracking, recruiting and
supporting YaYAOC and adult volunteer leadership.

2. Pastoral responsibilities
● Reaches out to new YaYAOC.
● Attends to volunteer appreciation and rituals of transition for
leadership.
● Supports DRUUMM YaYA Steering Committee to plan Steering
Committee meetings.
● Offers chaplaincy, mentorship, and conflict management support
within the DRUUMM YaYA Steering Committee and with DRUUMM YaYA and other
YaYAOC events.

3. Administrative responsibilities
● Oversees the Program Associate for the Youth Office and the
Youth Office Administrator in their administrative and logistical
support of DRUUMM meetings and other YaYAOC events, and YaYAOC
documents, databases, budget, mailings, publicity, and materials.
● Provides regular reports on the work of supporting YaYAOC.
● Participates in monthly meeting with staff from the Racial and
Ethnic Concerns Office.

4. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, the Director of
Lifespan Faith Development, the Executive Vice President, or the
President.

This is an exempt Grade 11 (entry $42,200; midpoint $53,300) position.
The ideal candidate will have a background in Unitarian Universalism,
experience working with youth, young adults, and/or college/university
students, and training in pastoral care, social work, or similar.
Religious education or youth ministry experience, a plus. Knowledge and
training in antiracism/antioppression and multiculturalism is important
as are leadership and facilitation skills. Candidates should have
strong oral and written communication skills, a collaborative,
team-oriented workstyle, and well-developed management and
administrative skillsets.

and is in a wheelchair. The folks at the Falls at Cordingly Dam, his
assisted living, are suggesting that he would enjoy having more one-to-one
company. I think he would more enjoy someone who could have conversations
about current events or some of his previous interests (prof of social
ethics). We are seeking a student or retiree who'd be willing to spend an
hour or two a week in conversation or even playing games if possible.

Job Descripton: This person will work with the Associate Minister to help oversee, coordinate, support, provide resources, train, and enable those involved in learning and youth ministries. This involves being present at all youth events, both on Sunday nights and various weekends. Help plan and implement events, meet with students during the week, develop and lead service trips, attend all-church meeting nights on the 2nd Monday of each month. In Christian Education will be preparing classrooms for Sunday mornings, help train teachers, create and organize Church school materials, develop and implement programs for children and families that occur outside of Sunday mornings.
