Senior Minister, UCC Cedar Rapids

DESCRIPTIVE REFERENCE
First Congregational UCC is a strong, talented and healthy congregation. They have gone through several pastoral leadership transitions in recent history, following a very long-term pastorate. They have a competent intentional interim minister during this transition, and have gained in confidence and clarity about their mission. They have done remarkably well in learning from their history and coming to a clearer understanding of who they are. They are, for the most part, mission driven. They are poised, as I see it, to move from a pastoral size to a program size congregation. In some ways they have already begun that transition. They appreciate a collaborative leadership style, are willing to be challenged, and have learned to appreciate the diversity of their membership. They have fine facilities and care well for them. They will compensate well the good leadership they are seeking.

SENIOR MINISTER: First Congregational UCC, Cedar Rapids, IA
Our mid-size congregation seeks a Senior Minister who is a strong spiritual guide, energizes and encourages lay leadership and is a successful administrator. We have a strong commitment to education, music and outreach within the neighborhood and community. After a period of rethinking our direction, we are ready to continue our faith journey with someone who has had experience in at least the same sized church, and who embraces an intentional refocusing that is less on pastor and more on collaborative leadership. We look forward to a clergy-staff-member partnership that appreciates and challenges us and to clergy who will be excited to help us decide what living faithfully into the future means.
