Half-time Director of Religious Education

The First Church in Jamaica Plain Unitarian Universalist is seeking a half-time Director of Religious Education. The Director of RE will work collaboratively with the Religious Education committee
and be supervised by the minister and that committee.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Coordinating Sunday morning religious education services for children
Overseeing curriculum
Coordinating volunteer teachers
Working with the minister to develop and implement intergenerational services throughout the year

Requirements:

Applicants will have a bachelor degree in Religious Education or related field, or equivalent.
Religious Education experience and training and ease and comfort in working with youth and their parents is equally important. Grant writing experience is a plus.

This is a permanent position of 20 hours per week, September-June. Start date is December 15 with some flexibility. Must work Sundays 9am to 1pm. Weekday hours are flexible and could include some evening meetings.

Compensation commensurate with education and experience.

Job Descripton: The Allen Avenue UU Church in Portland, Maine is
seeking
a permanent, full time Director of Religious Education. Our growing
Religious Education program has 160 registered children and youth with
an average Sunday attendance of 75. We have children's programming at
both our 9:00am and 11:00am Sunday services. Allen Ave is a dynamic
community, receiving in recent years the James Bennet Award for Social
Action and the Pickett Award for membership growth.

Applicants should be steeped in UU knowledge, practice and principles;
and have strong organizational skills, the ability to work with a wide
range of people and experience working with children and youth. The DRE
will also coordinate adult RE programming.

Elder Care Ministries Chaplain

Elder Care Ministries Chaplaincy Job Description

The Elder Care Ministries Chaplaincy Program is an organized ministry
to long-term care facilities providing professional spiritual care to
residents, families and staff. Qualified chaplains have training and
experience in meeting the spiritual needs of elders, as well as a
familiarity with long-term care facilities. ECM chaplains also have an
affinity and respect for elders including an appreciation for their
experience, life stories and wisdom. A minimum of two units of clinical
pastoral education is required.

Skills and strengths needed for this position include
● a pastoral presence and sensitivity, providing spiritual care to
the residents, staff and families of the facility
● an interfaith perspective on spirituality and religious
practice
● the ability to work cooperatively with staff toward holistic
care in the clinical setting
● excellent communication skills
● professionalism including a sense of pastoral identity as well
as the ability to clarify and articulate the role of chaplaincy in long
term care

The chaplain's responsibilities may include:

● providing regular visitation and pastoral care for residents
● coordinating weekly worship services for all residents
● scheduling and providing memorial services
● being a spiritual resource and support to residents and staff
● making referrals for families to appropriate support systems in
times of need
● developing appropriate rituals and support services to all
members of the facility at time of death
● providing continuity of care through hospital visitation
● coordinating opportunities for residents to express their
spirituality and religious beliefs
● providing educational in-services to staff relating to
spirituality & spiritual needs
● identifying and coordinating community resources, including
volunteers, to enhance resident care and quality of life


Specific duties, goals and outcomes are discussed and determined
cooperatively with the facility's administration, the chaplain and the
Director of Elder Care Ministries with evaluations of the program
scheduled on a regular basis. Communication between the administration
and the chaplain is a priority and is facilitated as needed by the
Director of Elder Care Ministries. Chaplains provide service to the
facility 20 hours per week for 50 weeks of the year with 2 weeks paid
vacation. Currently we have a part-time position open at a nursing

Areas of emphasis include shared sermon/pulpit duties, working closely with the Social Justice Council, Pastoral Care Committee, and providing support and guidance to small groups.

Description
The Veritas Forum seeks three Regional Directors to assume primary
oversight for supporting and guiding Veritas Forum events and
development in the Midwestern, Southeastern, and Southwestern states,
respectively. These positions are designed to enable the organization to
maintain its cadence of growth while ensuring focus on its core mission.

Each regional director will be responsible for expanding the breadth
and depth of Veritas Forums in the Midwestern, Southeastern, and
Southwestern regions of the country by coaching existing planning teams
and developing forums on new campuses in the region. Other
responsibilities include identifying potential speakers, nurturing
strategic partnerships, and developing new topics. The positions are
part-time and flexible.

Qualifications
At least 4 years of full-time work experience and some experience with
campus ministry. Passion for the university, intellectual grasp of the
strategic role of the university and its ideas in our culture.
Self-starter requiring little supervision, excellent verbal
communication skills. Ability to travel across the region to develop
new campuses, coach planning teams, and attend forums; work closely with
undergraduates, graduate students, ministers, and faculty; and manage
administrative responsibilities. Spiritually mature Christian with a
devotion to biblical values and principles. Bachelor's degree
required, graduate degree preferred.

Hours: 15 hours/week; 12 weeks each for fall and spring semesters;
flexible schedule
Pay: $20-25/hour
Start date: position available immediately
Location: anywhere in the Midwest, Southeast, or Southwest,
preferably near a major airport

YOUTH PASTOR or YOUTH LEADER

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The First Baptist Church of Nashua, NH, is seeking a half-time YOUTH PASTOR
or YOUTH LEADER, with responsibilities to include developing a youth group
for teens currently in junior high-designed to grow as the youth move to
high school, creating programs for families with young children, and
networking with other community organizations and churches.
Responsibilities may also include helping Christian Education leaders
develop a vision and a plan for the church's Christian Education program,
and overseeing the adult and children's Sunday School offerings.

The ideal candidate will bring a passion for Christ and the ability for
building enthusiasm. Our goal is to involve youth more actively in the life
of the church and in missions programs, and to create a stronger climate of
the value of Christian Education for children, youth, and adults.

Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field,
at least one year's experience in youth work, and church background. Music
skills a plus.

The Youth Pastor will meet regularly with the Senior Pastor, the Christian
Education Ministry Team, and the Superintendent of Sunday Schools, and may
participate in the worship service on a regular basis.
