The planet warms, the deep earth is fractured for fuel, nuclear reactors crack and leak because of faulty construction or natural disasters, killing people, and polluting air and water. Mountaintops are stripped and mined, trees laid low, water resources privatized or limited, and good land overburdened and laden with chemicals.

The guiding force behind North Carolina’s “Moral Mondays” actions will be the featured guest for an evening of music, fellowship, and lively conversation at Andover Newton. The Rev. Dr. William Barber II, president of the North Carolina branch of the NAACP and pastor of Greenleaf Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Goldsboro, N.C., will speak on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in Wilson Chapel. Theological Reflection And Critical Dialogue On The Practice Of Worship In The 21st Century

The Black Church Music Ministry Project (BCMMP), in conjunction with presenting sponsor, Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS),  invites greater Boston area pastors, ministers, scholars, seminarians, music ministry leaders, musicians, choir directors, vocalists and laypersons to engage in THEOLOGICAL REFLECTION AND CRITICAL DIALOGUE ON THE PRACTICE OF WORSHIP IN THE 21st CENTURY.  The half-day symposium will take place on the campus of Andover Newton Theological School (210 Herrick Road, Newton Centre, Mass. 02459) on Saturday,  Nov. 16, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Admission for this event is $25 and group rates are available.  A special rate for current Andover Newton students is also available and the BCMMP has created special scholarships for students whose current financial strain would prohibit their attendance.
