Interreligious Center for Public Life Announces:
Covenant, Community, and Sexuality
June 16-17, 2008
A Conference Sponsored by the Boston Theological Institute and by the InterReligious Center on Public Life, in partnership with Andover Newton Theological School and Hebrew College
The religious traditions are nearly at one in their recognition that their teachings on the dignity of the person have to include persons who are heterosexual as well as homosexual in orientation and not to ostracize any person. Dignity of the person is the most fundamental common theme. On the conclusions such traditions draw from that point they are much divided and often confused. Various religious bodies, both Jewish and Christian, have been at this discussion for years and many still find themselves stalemated. With this conference, we do not intend to be prescriptive, but to give people of the various traditions a forum in which to explore these issues within the context of covenant and community. For more information please see: www.bostontheological.org/sexconf/sex_conf_2008.htm
Conference participants may elect to take the conference as a part of the course, “COVENANT, COMMUNITY AND SEXUALITY,” ANTS INTE 690 (3 credits; open to Hebrew College & BTI students); Instructors: Rodney Petersen (BTI) and Sanford Seltzer (ICPL) and the Conference Speakers and Proceedings, “Covenant, Community and Sexuality”; course runs from 6/16 – 6/26.
