Message: Fri, Feb 1, 2008 at 7:00 pm-7:00 pm Location: Andover Newton Bookstore in Noyes Hall In her third collection of poems, One-Breasted Woman, Susan Deborah King bears witness to the soul’s transformation in the wake of a breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent mastectomy. The act of writing her latest collection was a central part of her recovery. Her poems offer an honest, intelligent, and ultimately life affirming response to anyone who faces a terrifying illness. King has taught writing at the University of Minnesota, the Write Place, and United Theological Seminary. She has also been a poet in residence at Whittier Community School for the Arts. A former Presbyterian minister and psychotherapist, King leads retreats on creativity and spirituality. Come and meet “Sam” King when she reads her poems at the Bookstore in Noyes Hall on Friday, February 1, 7 pm. Bring your friends. Light refreshments provided.
