In 2002 Jeff Jones began serving as Coordinator of E-Learning and as an adjunct faculty member. His duties were expanded in 2005 to include the development of the school’s distance learning program for continuing education for clergy and courses for laity. In 2007, he was appointed to the faculty and now serves as Associate Professor of Ministerial Leadership.
In July 2012 he was appointed to the new position of Director of Ministry Studies. His responsibilities include directing the Field Education program, administrative support for the Doctor of Ministry program and oversight of non-degree initiatives, including continuing education and Andover Newton’s annual Woodbury Leadership Workshop, which features prominent religious and secular scholars and practitioners.
Jeff has previously been a pastor in New York and New Jersey and a member of the national staff of the American Baptist Churches, USA. He most recently served as the part-time pastor of First Baptist Church of Plymouth from October 2005 to October 2012. He is the author of Heart, Mind and Strength: Theory and Practice for Congregational Leadership; Traveling Together: A Guide for Disciple-Forming Congregations, and Parenting with Love and Laughter: Finding God in Family Life, as well as numerous books on youth ministry and Baptist history and principles. He is a frequent speaker at denominational events and consultant with congregations, focusing on issues of discipleship and leadership in a rapidly and radically changing world.
