Site Description

First Church in Windsor is a UCC and Open and Affirming Congregation. Founded in 1630, we are located in historic Windsor CT. We have approximately 400 active members, with close to 60 children and youth participating in our Sunday school and youth activities. We also support the Early Learning Center located on our campus; this provides day care and kindergarten services to the community. Our mission is to worship God, love our neighbor, and follow Jesus as together we journey in faith. Please visit our website to learn more about mission and church life www.firstchurchinwindsor.org

Stipend Expectation

This site meets the stipend expectation

Student Involvement

Field education students at our church are encouraged to participate in any aspect of our congregations spiritual life and mission. We are especially committed to outreach and service work in a variety of areas as well as a strong commitment to our youth. First Church's missions include pastoral care for active and home-bound members and friends, Covenant to Care, Back Bay Mission, Immaculate shelter, and various youth service trips. We have strong commitments to social issues and community involvement in general. Students will have opportunities to preach, participate in Sunday services and work with our confirmation class and Christian education programs for our youth and adults. We have a vibrant and active choir and music programs.

Commitment to Educating Ministers

First Church has been a teaching parish since 2005. During this time our partnership Andover Newton Theological School has become an important part of our church life. It reflects our commitment to education and to future church leaders. Our Seminary students are considered to be full members of the church staff with the opportunity to work in all facets of church life. Our congregation is committed to learning and growing with our students, and encourages them as they grow in their ministry.

Special Considerations

Successful candidates will be committed to Open and Affirming principles. Students will have an off-site supervisor matched to them through Andover Newton.
