Site Description

Who We Are: An active membership of about 100 with weekly worship attendance of about 60 A small rural town (population about 3000) in central Massachusetts Car needed This is the sort of parish typical of a first call out of seminary (true for the current pastor). We want to offer a student the opportunity to experience this type of church prior to being called to one!

Stipend Expectation

This site meets the stipend expectation

Student Involvement

There is a chance that we will have a Christian Education Director in addition to a student minister. If not, the student will be responsible for the oversight of the Christian Education program. This does not mean (necessarily) teaching Sunday School, but it does mean organizing the Sunday School. We would welcome a student with a passion to rejuvenate our ministry with youth. Beyond this, we invite the student to choose what opportunities for ministry she or he feels would be most beneficial. The pastor is eager and willing to invite a student to share in any and all areas of pastoral ministry. Possible opportunities include (but are not limited to): Sunday worship services including preaching. We have an informal early worship as well as a traditional service, so there can be lots of opportunity to participate. Adult Education: this would be an opportunity for a new initiative Pastoral care, including visits to members and counseling Outreach and involvement in the local community: another opportunity for exciting new programming.

Commitment to Educating Ministers

We acknowledge that the opportunity for learning in our experience with a student minister is a two-way street. We also acknowledge that both the church and the student will enter into the relationship with needs to be met as well as gifts to share. We will offer the student our prayers, our respect, and an invitation to walk with us in our faith journey.

Special Considerations

Brimfield is only 75 minutes west of the ANTS campus. There is no public transportation. The church is 7 miles west on Route 20 from exit 9 (Sturbridge) of the Mass. Turnpike.
