Job Details:

The Director of Christian Education will have the overall goal of fostering a commitment to Christian Education throughout the congregation and encouraging an enthusiasm for faith development and Christian knowledge using creative, interactive, and other methods effective with today’s culture and the changing religious landscape.

This position is an average of 20 hours per week with summers off. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education, in consideration with the UCC compensation guidelines.


Certified Christian Educator and/or Degree in Education or Theology-related field.


We are looking for someone with at least two years of experience in a leadership role in Christian Education or youth ministry. Equivalent volunteer experience may be considered in lieu of work experience. At least two years education’ experience in a non-religious setting may be considered for candidates who are active in their church and committed to developing the Christian faith. Experience with multi-generational education preferred.

  • We are looking for someone who is passionate about Christian education, committed to living in a relationship with God, and can demonstrate Christian values in an Open and Affirming congregation.
  • Candidate must be able to collaborate with church leaders, parishioners, and parents, and interact positively with diverse demographics, personalities, and lifestyles.
  • Candidate will be responsible for leading and motivating volunteers and should be able to incorporate enthusiastic approaches to reach today’s youth in our culture’s changing religious landscape.
  • It is also important that the candidate be able to work with and minister to people with special needs.
  • Must be willing to maintain currency of knowledge and skills required for this professional position.


  • Candidate must be at least 22 years of age (due to Safe Church policy), must pass CORI background check and remain in good standing, and become First Aid/CPR Certified.
  • Must have basic computer skills, familiarity with the internet and a basic understanding of social media, with a willingness to learn.
