Youth Group Leader, Stow, MA

The Union Church of Stow is starting a new youth group program and is seeking an energetic person to help establish and lead this program.


The Youth Group Leader will provide spiritual guidance and direction to youth of the community, with a focus on middle and high school ages. He or she will develop an attractive youth group program that offers young people the opportunity to share fellowship, to address issues important to them, to provide service to the church and community, and to grow in Christian faith. The Youth Group Leader will work with other adults to broaden the support for youth ministry.

Job Requirements:

The position of Youth Group Leader for the Union Church of Stow calls for an energetic and dedicated person, with joy in leading youth and with a strong Christian faith. Experience in providing youth leadership is required; education in youth ministry and child development is highly desirable.

Reporting and Direction:

The Youth Group Leader will report to the chair of the Christian Education (CE) Committee, and will coordinate his or her activities with the CE Committee, which will provide direction and feedback on performance. The Pastor will be available for assistance on faith development issues.


The position of Youth Group Leader is a part-time position, with the following duties:

  1. Lead, support, and enhance the Youth Group; hold regular meetings of the youth group; plan and run a series of attractive activities consistent with the Christian principles of the church.
  2. Meet monthly with the Christian Education Committee and adult youth group leaders; meet at least quarterly with the Pastor.
  3. Work with adult leaders in the Youth Group Support Team, to increase the support for youth activities. With the support team, plan and communicate a year-long program for youth, including regular meetings, fellowship activities, retreats, service projects, fund-raisers, and other activities for a vibrant youth ministry.
  4. Attend worship services and Sunday school meetings on a regular basis, to provide a welcoming environment to youth and parents. Participate in appropriate church and church school activities, as time permits.
